Wow, did not know the LED's are blinking? I thought they are just diodes that receive static current through.

It's due to the fact that the only real way to dim an LED is to flash it at .... say 60hz (times per second).. then control how many of those 60pulses are on vs off. It's called duty cycle. For dim or running lights they are prolly on 50%, then 100% on for brake. this translates to a visible flash when video recording devices which record at 30 frames per second catch the LED in it's off state every few frames or so.
it's exactly what he was talking about when you point your phone cam at a tv and get the same result. the refresh rates are out of sync. Same on TV news.. when they look at a monitor, it's flashing.. In the movies they control the monitors so it does sync up with the film (which btw, is 24fps) so it all looks gravy!!! |
