Default Regular or Super Unleaded?

I was under the impression that you're supposed run Super Unleaded gas in the Warrior. I just read somewhere on this forum that this isnot true. Should I really be running just Regular Unleaded gas? What do you experts that have had a Warrior for a few years have to say? Thanks in advance.

High octane fuel is only "required" in high compression engines. You would be much better off putting a high grade 87octane fuel in your Warrior than shotty high octane. Stay away from places like "Dales Discount Gas" with only one pump.

Thanks guys!!! This forum is awesome. With the price of gas skyrocketing, I'll save plenty just running 87 octane for the 15,000 miles that I'll put on my Warrior this year.Looks like this Sunday will be around 60 degrees here in NY, so I'll be getting lost somewhere North with some of the guys. Are there any of you Warriors close by. Please feel free to contact me.Thanks again.

Wow there's lots of ink on this octane thing again.

Maybe we need a one-post sticky about 'the truth about octane' to spread the word on when to go premium in your Beast?

I use 87 in my Busa & the Warrior.I used to use premium in both bikes but then I'm old school & years ago that's what all my friends used in their muscle cars.Even my 99 supercharged GTP calls for premium.Back in the 70's the guy I had rebuild my carbs said to by premium @ only brand name stations because he said that gas is cleaner. He used to race cars & he rebuilt carbs for a living after he quit racing. He saw 1st hand what cheap gas does to filters & carbs. Now I go for Top Tier gas 87 to 89 octane.>

I drove a 99 regal gs for a couple of years and I always ran mid-grade in it. I tried regular a couple of times and it would ping under hard acceleration with the 87 octane. I never had any problems with the mid-grade.

I'm still kicking myself for selling that car....I bought an '07 Scion tc shortly after and it doesn't get much better gas mileage. It's also way slower.

I use to run the premium stuff until I was informed by one of the dyno techs at DynoJet that unless your running hi-compression pistons and all don't use anything by the regular stuff. So I started to run regular gas and you now it seemed to make a difference...
