ok, i'm baffled about the mileage, i have an 2005 midnite warrior with a power commander three and shorty two into ones that i cant find on the net, i bought the bike this way. i have put two new tires on it and the mini fairing from chrome world named stealth. i filled up this weekend here in pablo montana and rode to thompson falls montana, my low fuel light kicked on two miles before our poker ride stop. i picked up my fourth card and informed my buddy my light was on but it comes on whenever it wants to but i wanted to top off anyways just to check the mileage. as i filled the bike my buddy said 90 miles since our last fill up. my warrior took 1.6 gallons to top off again. isnt that extremely high mileage? like around 60 mpg. from that stop i went 137 miles to finish the poke ride back to home. when i top it off this weekend i'll post the mileage. idling it blows black smoke when you twist the throttle so i thought it would be richer than normal.........any ideas?

I have a 2006 silverado with 4000 miles on it, just started running rough, rich, and fuel is dripping off the carb, I pulled the tank, and removed the carb ( big job), didn't
find a stuck float, hoses tight, sensors all plugged in, pulled out the neddle, and shut off valve under the float, they seemed clean, floats not full of fuel, blowing tru gas line I was able to stop the flow with the float valve, reinstalled it , started, runs fine, still overflowing, dripping fuel all over the place, dealer wants the whole bike to work on it, don't have a trailor, don't think I'd ride it 15 miles, any suggestions ? |

Sounds like it's time to get a bike without carbs. You know, like a Warrior

About the running out of gas and pushing issue. I'm a noobie when it comes to Warriors, I've just had one a few weeks, love it though. The most fun to ride bike I've had in thirty years, and I've had quite a few. So I'm not sure if it is as easy as I think it is, but instead of pushing the bike when the unthinkable happens, just pull off the tank. Stick your thumb out, and some biker in his cage or on his bike will come along and pick you up and take you to the nearest gas station. I carried my Kawasaki Z-1 tank a couple times and hitched a ride to the nearest gas station. (Left it on reserve after filling up like a dumb ass and ran dry) After removing my Warrior tank the other day, the dry breaks make it fairly easy. A lot easier than pushing 650 some pounds of motorcycle. Now the Z-1 tank was just held on by a rubber strap (if I remember correctly) so it was a breeze to remove, but the Warrior is just held on by a couple acorn nuts, a couple clamps on those two hoses. Remove them and carry the tank to the gas station.

There's a couple roads I like that are just over 125 miles between fuel and the day will come when I'll run out. I've been considering one of those aluminum screw-thread fuel-rated quart containers that brackets onto the frame and if you run out there's your spare quart (5~10 miles depending) and if its empty just carry the container for fuel.

I have been able to go about 135 miles or so before the light came on but that was during a highway trip so not alot of hot rodding and stop and going. Went about 12-15 miles after that on that trip before I saw a station. So glad I did not run out cuz I was on a deserted stretch of road and wouldve been footin it. I normally get about 100-115 on a tank around town and thats just riding like normal with hittin the gas most of the time unless theres traffic. I run premium unleaded just cuz it says to and figure if it didnt need it they wouldnt recommend it. Its only 20 more cents so its worth it too me. I usually gas up when the light comes on within atleast 5-10 miles around town.
