What sort of right side covers can be made functional? I just don't like the idea of any sort of faux scoop... they might look cool but to me it would always be screaming Lund, like the scoops that people stick on their ford focuse hoods.

I've got the classic ball of wires going on with my right side, but that's because I haven't made up my mind. My bike isn't really one that would benefit from a serious wire cleanup, I don't want to put any kind of scoop on it unless it's going to actually do something, and I havne't seen any cover that really grabs my attention. For that matter, the left side scoop is off my bike too.

I would consider doing something fake if it were uniform on both sides, but I'm not 100% sold on the speed* scoops, even though they look good. I'm kinda wondering what VMax scoops would look like...?

I've made some matching scoops that are similar to the new VMAX scoops. Here is a picture of several sets I have made. I have made some changes so you wont see the screws anymore. Gav posted a pic of the right side only scoop on page 2. Gav's paint skills are awesome, so his looks amazing. I have let my vendor badge lapse, so if you are interested I'll have to renew my badge, but I do have some parts available if you are interested.

So here are some pics of the mock-up of the R6 tail end.
Not to worry, it's been done before by a few different guys. Done right, it looks pretty good. Now then, where are the pics you talked about?

Default DIY Right side intake

I thought I'd add to this thread. I did this over the summer. It's a DIY cold air intake. I used the design of others with the old rubber intake. For the mounting brackets I used gate hinges and cut off the hinge part to just have the metal pieces and attached them to the plastic part (search DIY cold air intake to get the part number). I then found a HVAC 4" to 3" piece at Lowes and completed the assembly. Painted it all black except for the chromed piece that attaches the intake to the elbow. It'll do for now. On to the winter mods!

Thanks Arizona! No filter. Got Churnkeys VBAK. I just did it to get more fresh air under the tank as I relocated my rectifier there. Figured more air was good for the VBAK anyways.
