Default Speestar pipe, should I black out the cap or keep it chrome?

Just received the speedstar eshaust I won on Ebay. They're in really good condition. Hate to waste all that good chrome to get them ceramic coated. I think these are the best built pipe I've seen for any bike that I have owned.

I was thinking of leaving the end cap chrome and black out the rest. But I remember seeing here that there may be a problem with the chrome flaking on these. Anyone have that problem or have heard of this? If that's the case I may as well black the cap too.

The only place the chrome started flaking on mine was where the welds from the front pipes meet up. When I had them coated I left the cap chrome, and it still looks new.

I remember hearing about the chrome peeling on the cap too. Luckily mine have not done that (knock on wood). I also remember reading on here years ago a post that mentioned two different part numbers for the speedstar pipe. The rest of the details are a bit foggy to me. It seems there was some made by a different company that had a slightly different part number and was common to have the chrome flaking off. Of course none of this info would be any good if you weren't sure of the P/N of your pipes. Not sure where this post was, but it seems like it was Azwarrior that posted it. Maybe contact him.

Either way, that cap couldn't cost much to have chrome plated again if it were to peel.
