Default Confessions of a Motorcycle Thief

I have been working out some new security for my Warrior as its value is ever increasing due to my mod addiction.

I have come up with an ingenious (IMNSHO!) kill switch that seems to be fool proof. Will post later with pics as it is installed.

But I digress...I came upon this blog from a former, but reformed, motorcycle thief that I found very interesting and informative. Thought I would post a link for anyone interested...

Kill switch wont do a thing if your bike is stuffed into a van.

What's interesting to me is the part about dealerships selling you a bike and then stealing it back from your home. Never even thought about that.

Lot of good information on how to protect our bikes here.

wadave, are you the bike parked near the tracks, or used to be outside the bayside?

I had two bikes stolen through out the years. The first bike that was stolen, I got back just by never giving up looking for it. It was stolen for a joy ride. We found it 5 weeks later sitting in a impound lot. Yeah you have to check the impound lots yourself, the police never called or contacted me. The other one, a dirt bike, I never got back. The best deterrent at home is in a garage, and a big loud barking dog, and motion detector lights. Both my bikes were stolen at night at the place where I lived. Did not have a dog then or a garage.

Once a thief ....always a thief is my beliefs !!!!
Being 1 who's had a brand new sportbike stolen from me and SUV instilled hatred in me for all crooks & theives.

As the previous poster stated....the best protection is a garage, great lighting and a loud barking dog.

Not surprised at all to read the bit about dealers stealing bikes back either. We had a local repair shop here in Maryland that was doing that and they got snagged with a load of stolen bikes.

Never been worth it IMO.......Karma always bite you back 2-3 times as hard as you bite others.

Yeah, but its sure doesn't hurt! That with a good disc lock and chain are pretty solid security.
