Why would the exhaust be hotter in the summer?

well in the summer the heat exuded from the exhaust would fry me when in traffic. Right now the cool air is atleast keeping the ambient temp between my leg and the exhaust somewhat alright. in the summer it will uncomfortably hot to sit on the bike while its not moving.

I had a set of custom short pipes that were wrapped. With no heat shields, they can get very hot. I would definitely add more heat wrap or maybe contact Hard Khrome and see I you can buy a set of heat shields separately

The heat shields dont do much in the way of keeping the heat from roasting your legs/nads in the summer heat. All they do is keep your leg/pants from burning.

Ive ridden in 15* temps last year. As long as I kept it under 30mph it wasnt too bad. Those hot pipes came in handy!!!

A little off topic but have you seen some of the exhaust Paul Sr and Jr make? I don't know if I've ever seen any shields on any of them. How about that set that dumps out 4 pipes on either side of the gas tank pointing up? Talk about loud, heat, and 3rd degree burns on the underside of your forearms.
