Ain't nothing necessary----You can leave the throttle side wide open if you like or space the cover out as far as you like or leave the entire air box on as stock or put whatever you like on it. Personally I don't give a rats butt about paint and shinny crap as its the ride thats important to me and I like to hang on with more than my tail bone on hard corners and keep my knees out of the breeze when running tripple digits. Its just my .02, your riding style may be different than mine.
