Thumbs up Moving the pegs and controls to the rear

I have 2005 Midnight Warrior that I purchased in 2006. I didn't buy it to be a cruiser. The first thing I did when I bought it was lower it, add the PCIII, exhaust, dual oil coolers, new intake, etc... etc... I searched around those first two years to find an aftermerket kit to reposition my footpegs and controls to the rear. Only to find that all aftermarket kits are designed to move all the controls foreword for cruising. The Yamaha Warrior, to me, isn't a cruiser nor do I ride it that way. To me it's a "muscle bike", I consider it the heavy hitting Shelby Cobra of motorcycles.
I would like to hear anyone's thoughts on fabrication of a rear controls system like you would find on a super bike.

"the heavy hitting Shelby Cobra of motorcycles"

I like the way you said that. The warrior to me is DEFINITELY a muscle bike, drag bike, whatever you want to call it it's not a road king, goldwing, or other cadillac floating, corner mushing, smooth accelerating overpriced cruiser.

My warrior is loud as H$%# sticks right with most things to 100MPH and looks really good while doing it. Good luck with the sport stance conversion, if your intent is to corner with the sportbike guys best of luck, those bikes are designed with a lot of $$$ behind them to go round corners fast as possible. There's a reason those bikes dont weigh 650 lbs I'm just a wuss when it comes to corners..... I'm literally afraid of a little unannounced sand

Ive low sided once (front end slid out) and almost high sided (rear wheel slid out) three times in various turns going too fast and hit gravel. Thankfully I was able to both walk/ride away from them all but it scares the **** outta me. Especially blind curves.

As for rearsets. Patrick racing made up a drag pegs that probably wouldnt work on the street. The problem is that on one side the pipes are in the way. On the other the tranny/clutch is in the way. You would either have to fab brackets that go around these parts or stagger the pegs so they are not directly across from each other.

The there is the whole lean angle issue. The seat is so low that to keep the lean angle the pegs would have to be high and possibly very uncomfortable/ugly to be functional.

I have heard of some guys able to tuck their feet up onto the pass pegs. Im just to tall and fat to even think about trying that one. If i could even get my feet up there, they would most likely get stuck and I would be assed out!

Default rear pegs

Check out my version in the gallery....stuartyoda, mine is 06, the shift side was easy the brake side was a nightmare, but works great. I have had to remake each time I changed pipes (3 times) I finally found the cobra swept, they are the best performers with 110 inch motor.( they never drag the ground, they sound great with a little tweeking on the baffles.( my first mod was ditching that butt ugly rear fender, kinda made me think of osambos wife.

Instead of looking to move the driver pegs back maybe a solution could be to move the passenger pegs down and forward. Although you lose the ability to shift and use your rear brake ir could give you the position you are looking for. On my old Harley i used to put my feet back on the passenger pegs just to change positins on long rides.

I'm not a mechanic or an engineer, but moving the brake controls rearward would seem to be a matter of designing a peg-lever combo, mounting it to the stock pipe bracket, and shortening the brake cable. FSD used to make really short pipes to fit the Warrior (BMSChoppers.com).

You would be a forum hero if you did a write-up on the mid sets. Guys have been talking about them for years but you are the only one I know of who has actually done it. I would love to see pics of how you did the brake side.

I think the OP was looking for rear sets, not mids.

Amen to that. If he had the required 50 posts he would for sure have my vote. What a great overall job! Mid sets, custom bags and fairing, it's just beautiful!!!!
