I left my bike sitting in my garage for about a month. I'm in Utah so it gets pretty cold but last year i didn't have this problem. After not being able to start my bike i made sure the battery was fine and it still won't start, i can hear it turn over it just doesn't start. I'm no machanic but I assume it's the starter. I don't want to just go out and buy a new one, can anyone tell me what to look for to solve this problem?

I know others will have ideas as well but I'd check some basics. The fuel system and the ignition sysyem, is the fuel pump turning on when you turn the key? Did you add any fuel stabilizer when you parked it a month ago, I don't think the fuel would go bad that quick but with the cold temps, maybe. Are you getting a spark at the plugs? you can check that by disconnecting the plug wire from the spark plug, unscrew the boot and hold the wire near the head (+/- 1/8"). Give the start button a push and look for a spark, darkness helps.

When you say you hear it turn over, is the motor actually turning over? if so your starter is fine. If you just hear a click then you have different issues. as has been said and will be said again, make sure your battery is at least 12.8 VDC with key off, turn key on-check again-should be close still. Leaving meter attached, push start button and see what voltage you have while engine is turning over. will drop but should not drop lower than about 11 VDC. If it does you may have a bad battery. Also check battery connections and connections at both the relay and on the starter itself.

Your battery is dying, it doesn't have enough left to turn the beast over. There's a few conversations around here about batteries for the Warrior, maybe start in the Popular Mods thread (link in my sigpic) then scroll down to Batteries and there's all kind's of antics going on. Also consider (for example) a Schumacher Companion battery floater/charger, walmart, about $29 I think. Looks like if you order on-line and pick it up at your local store its even less: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher...arger/13005742

Yeah, weak battery. Although you should also check the cables to make sure they are tight on the battery. They have a way of loosening up due to vibration. So you may not get full contact, thus not full power from the battery.

I as well believe you have a weak battery, a new one is around 100 bucks at least i believe (thats how much I payed for mine.) also when ever you take the battery out do not let it sit on concrete floor after its been charged or any time for that matter. The concrete will actually drain your batter of juice.
After I charged my battery I left it near the bike on the floor and went inside forgot to take care of it then and when I came out the next morning the battery was dead again, and yes it was tested before I got home. |

Modern sealed batteries will not drain on concrete this is a old wives tale! Look it up online. If the battery drained overnight it wasn't a good battery. I went on the mythbusters website and they have plenty of info on this subject.
