I recently did the ais block off and the bike has been running good, then today before work i started it and noticed a gust of air puffing on the inside of my left leg. i look down and at about the back-mid under of the tank coming from the right side of the bike going left there is a hose not connected to something. i know i recognized the clip on the end of it from doing the ais block off but haven't had time to tank the tank/air box out and see if it is somewhere simple. i was hoping someone would point me in the right direction. it is about a 1/2 inch hose with a big butterfly slip clip on the end that you squeeze and it becomes more open so you can move it back and take the hose off. and remember it is pushing air out not pulling it in. also the bike seems to still be running fine with out it?!? which i find weird. it is deep under the tank and i tried taking a picture but it didn't turn out

Go to Yamaha Sports Plaza Website and look up your bike on the fishe. Its real easy to do and then you'll see exactly where it goes. Might be the hose that comes off the airbox and goes into the no longer installed AIS system? G

Let me simplify. There is a hose that pushes air out. It sits under the air box. And is connected to the right side of the engine. There can't be to many hoses that push air, since it clearly isn't a vaccume.

Yep.
The other hoses are either vacuum or fuel.

In case its not that vent hose, my wild guess is maybe Item #7 on the AIS attachment below. I've had people before say this was on the right side of the motor meaning they were looking at the motor's left-side and it was to the right (rear jug) in their view . . . figured I'd take a chance since this is often overlooked in an -AIS and it exhausts air when uncapped simply because the airbox is drawing air in. Not sure I'd call it 'deep under the tank' tho but gotta take a chance.
I've also added the rear jug's vent hose attachment (below) mentioned by others, in case helpful. Its Item #4 but this usually isn't removed when doing an -AIS.

Like Church and Yamaweezle said.... it's the Crank Case vent from the rear cyl head.
It prolly connects to the plenum...but since my bike was not stock when I bought it... I don't know for shure. It's the only hose that size that puffs air out!!! this can be deleted... but you have to snake a longer hose down somewhere so it can puff into the atmosphere. |
