Default Big Shot Exhaust Question

Just purchased a '02 Warrior that has the V&H Big Shots installed. Love the sound of them, however there seems to be a lot of popping along with it stalling sometimes when I come to a complete stop.

Should I get a FuelPak or a Power Commander to help with these issues? Which one would be the best to solve my problems?

I have the same setup + PC III..
It pop's sometimes, I figure fuel injection just lets few extra drops of gas slip by sometimes when slowing down, and thats why it pop's from time to time..
My bike also stalls sometimes when slowing down, after cutting the gas, and when I pull the clutch, it dies on me.. Havent really figured out, why it does that.

Popping and backfiring are a common characteristic of the bike. However, if you do the AIS plate blockoff, you can remove a lot of that. The Air Induction System was tuned to work best with stock pipes, so when those pipes were switched out, it no longer works very well. You can read how to do it in my link to Redhorse Mods. If you were to actually tune the bike so well that it never popped, then in reality it wouldn't run very well. When you down throttle, at times you give it less gas than the engine would normally use -say you're dropping throttle to shift up, then you increase throttle again. Therefore you get a pop. I'm not a great engineer or anything, so I can't explain it well...

As far as stalling -do you mean the bike dies? Or it hesitates off idle? Often this is because the idle has been slowed down. People like to drop the idle so it sounds more like a Harley. The problem is the bike wasn't made to run that slow, and it can actually have detrimental effects. So if your idle isn't somewhere between 850-950ish, you need to adjust it back. It's the big silver knob behind the gas tank when you take the seat off. Make sure the bike has been warmed up properly (10 minutes) before you check idle, or change idle.

Finally - since you have aftermarket pipes, it is recommended but not required to get a fuel management system. In my personal opinion, I don't think the Fuelpak is a very good system. However most of the other options out there are pretty solid -some are proven better like the PCIII.

You can also do an "ECU Bump" -you can read about it in my link to popular mods.

Good luck

It's hard to beat a PCIII USB. That and a dyno tune cures most problems.

That was happening to me when I had my Big Shots on. I bumped the idle up just a bit and it no longer stalled when I came to a complete stop.
