I recently purchased risers off of ebay and barely got part way through the install when the threads inside stripped out where the bolts go into the risers from the tree. Does anyone know if they can be retapped so that I am maybe use these risers or would it be better to just buy another set? I cannot do anything with this project until I find an answer cuz now the bike is not rideable due to no handlebars of course. If you have any helpful tips or risers that are larger than stock that you would like to sell please let me know and post a pic please. This turned out to be a frustrating project!!!!!

Hmmmm... Well I guess it couldn't hurt to try. If you get a good bite it should be ok (along with a lot of blue locktite). I haven't heard of this one before to be honest

I think that the stock bolts are 12mm with a 14mm sleeve to fit snug in the tree. You might be able to tap it to a 14mm bolt size and not have to use the sleeve. Make sure you thread the bolts in by hand to make sure you are not cross threaded before using a wrench,as you have figured out by now.

Thanks leaderduece and i couldnt believe that this happened either and I had already used the locktite on the threads during the origsnal install and they still stripped out. I am wondering if they are cheap metals or something. BIGJOHNSJEEP has the same one on his bike. They look the same anyways. I am going to lowes today to see if I can find a tap to rethread and see what happens. Worst case is that it doesnt and I have to take them back off. thanks for the input. I guess I should have spent more for the Yammi risers and been done with it.

Update to this post!!! I managed to get the risers fixed by tapping out the threads inside the risers and get new bolts. so far the problem is fixed but now a problem is present. I need a longer brake line for the front brake since I have to much rise. So does anyone have any suggestions to buy brake lines online to fit exact with having to do a complete modification to the front line. one that can go from the lever down to the coupler under the headlight. I know people have longer brake lines, who is reasonable and has a fast turn around?

I know someone will chime in here, but you can get brake lines plus however many inches you want, check phatts performance. Im pretty sure they have the option. You can get them custom made too..do a little googling to one of the guys that has done this posts up

Galfer S.S. 3-Line Front Brake Line Length - Warrior (02-07) - FK003D311-3
You could sell your stock lines to make up a little bit..think you will find this is the best route..

You have 3 choices:
1) You can get a new 1 into 2 setup. You really can't reuse the lower half of the stock brake lines. They're not made to disassemble. 2) You can get a new 2 into 2 setup. This will put 2 banjo bolts on top coming out of the master cylinder. This is what I have now, and it works great. (Not that the other setup doesn't work great too). 3) You can unbolt the junction block from the bottom of the triple tree, and move it back and rebolt it in. I did this for over a year. You kind of have to fiddle around, and use the brackets in a different way if I remember right, but you can make it work if you're willing to fiddle around with it. This means you will move the brake lines BEHIND the triple tree instead of in front of them, but it works just fine. Give it a try, fiddle around with it, and if you don't like it you can always order new lines. One last question -what year is your bike? If it's an 02-04, then it has shorter lines than the 05- and up. This means you could probably score some front brake lines from someone who's gone to stainless steel lines. I'd give you mine but they're 02 lines, so they wouldn't help. Good luck

I'm guessing the risers had American threads and you tried to use the metric's which came on the bike. I'd be very careful about trying to repair them, you don't want them to come loose the first time you hit a bump on the freeway going 80 mph!
I wouldn't trust them in less they had at least 3/4 of an inch of bite, and loctight ain't gonna help them. Make sure you have lock washers underneight.(Didn't mean to undermine LD, I would use loctight but don't expect it to do miracles.)
