If you are sure you have the correct cable, then notice the cable has a middle adjustment area plus the lever adjustment area. If you have a service manual I think it has a write-up for installing a NEW cable that includes setting the middle adjustment first and then fine-tuning with the lever adjustment. Also be sure both of the cable ends are are fully seated.

The cable is correctly routed. I don't think the cable is the problem. Its like the clutch lever isn't moving as far as it should. If I take the cover off to look at it will the oil comes out from the cover?

Also be sure it moves the lever at the bottom of the cable as much as possible. Pic is in service manual. |

I started the bike in neutral and pulled the clutch all the way. Then tried to put it in gear and it jurked forward with the clutch pulled all the way and died. The feel of the clutch is very light too.

That sounds like clutch is not fully disengaging, can you post a pic of the lever on the case. Maybe it has moved. I lost the bolt on mine and didn't notice.

clearly, it's the wrong cable or it's not hooked up right or something has slipped. did you remove the lever on the case when changing the cable? can you post the part number of the cable? plus 1 on all of the above.

Do you still have the broken cable? Maybe compare the two see if their the same length etc. When I installed my sr-2 It took me a full day of minor adjusting to the cable in order to get the tranny to shift smoothly.
