Google for a carbed road star that has piston and cams. It is 1 of the best sounding v twin engines I have ever heard. If you like the sound of a nasty big block...

The trouble with running very lean is the heat can do some damage.
But even when mine was real lean it didn't lope like that. Dunno.

It's not just lean as much as improper and spuratic amounts of fuel.
