I just got a set of Samson bulldogs and am in the middle of installation but I'm stuck. The instructions say to use the existing bolts for mounting but I can't figure out how to get the flanges off of the stock pipes. I'm probably missing something obvious but whatever it is, I can't figure it out. Any input is appreciated.

You said "The instructions say to use the existing bolts for mounting", they don't say to use the existing flanges. Your new pipes should have the flanges on them, you can't take them off. Your talking about the flanges that bolt to the heads, right?

If they came in a samson box check the paper that was packed around the pipes for loose items. My samsons came with a small box with bolts and instructions inside.

Yeah, I found the package of hardware and instructions in the Samson box. There are hose clamps to attach the heat shields, and bolts and clamps to attach the mufflers to the exhaust mount and the head pipes. No brackets to go over the welded on flanges to hold the head pipes to the exhaust ports, however.

The flange is the vaguely oval "mounting plate" which holds your pipe to the cylinder exhaust, not removable from most exhaust pipes. The Samson website states that you reuse your original/standard/stock bolts, etc. There is no mention of a cover for the flanges, your original fittings should fit through the Samson flange holes & line up. Is the problem that the holes don't line up? Maybe you have a dodgy set? BTW...nice looking pipes, they are going to be worth the effort! |
