Just checked mine, thanks.....mine is fine but I think some 'upgrade' is in order.

I think scuffing and JB Weld will do the trick.

VERY USEFUL THREAD, THANKS!

Braze will not work on the aluminum housing.

The boss od looks small = thin wall thickness. I doubt a pipe tap will work & if it did the boss would probably split when a taper pipe fitting is tightened.

IMHO the best fix would be to TIG weld an aluminum AN fitting on the housing outlet.

akitadog said he used JB Weld on the first page of this thread:

"I had this happen on mine a few months ago and posted some photos on it. I had just washed the bike and was drying things off and hit the hose. It literally just fell out of the connector fuel flowing quick as I quickly fumbled to put it back in. Never leaked so I did not even know this was a problem. Roughed up both surfaces, cleaned them well and applied some JB Weld. Have not had any issues since!

Scary problem that most don't know about...."

I'm guessing the casting may be pot metal (zinc) and not aluminum?

Do I need to take the gas tank off to check this valve?

No, it is right on the left side of the tank....follow the line (best to do this when your tank is low) to the tank and see if it is loose.

I just had this happen today. I was riding home from work and felt my left pant leg near my knee getting wet. There hasn't been any rain so I figured it wasn't water. I looked down and saw something spraying on my leg. Pulled over and checked it and saw the fuel dripping. I made it home and checked it, and as soon as I touched the line the fuel just dumped out. I pushed the line back in and it slowed to a trickle. I incorrectly assumed that the leak was caused by the hose being loosely connected to that nipple, but when I attempted to fit a new hose clamp the nipple fell out like in the video. I'm gonna try the JB Weld. For those who have done this, how long have you been running it and how is it holding up?
