Default Please help, i'm scurred. Bike won't start.

So the warrior has been starting a little rough lately, nothing major; just takes a few more seconds. Went to start it this morning after not having ridden it in a few weeks... started it fine but had a brain fart and put it into first with the kickstand down and it shut off, went to crank it back up;a few blackakachagaka's and then POP. and white smoke came out from under the tank and the computer sounded a bit disheveled. I'm assuming the starter has finally gone out.. but i don't know. WAs in a rush and had to leave immediately for school. I tried a second crank and the same thing, then it wouldn't start up.Any ideas?

Sounds like a week battery. A few people have witnessed the same symptoms. The bike sneezes (backfire through the throttle bodies) when it gets poor spark. Try putting your battery on a charge, if possible. See if it starts more like normal, if not probably just time to replace that battery.

ya I agree....if she cranks over at all....then I suspect the starter is ok.....a low battery will cause all sorts of gremlins to pop their heads up!!!!!
btw, depending on the age/miles of the battery, they don't last forever.....my OEM battery, no matter how long it sat on the battery tender, it would still crank slow due to age and use. Once I replaced the battery, it cranked like an ape!!!!!

I don't think you should worry about the smoke. I suspect it's a bad battery. If you don't have a charger/tender, then just for kicks, jump it off a car. DO NOT have the car running. Just hook it up, and start the bike. Should fire right up. If it does, then your battery is toast. If it doesn't, then I'd check the fuses.

Compliments to the 4m gurus! I am amazed of how you guys know all these things about the Warrior. I haven't had this problem but I know this that if I have a problem, or concern that you guys can guide me in the right direction. Man I like this community, band of brothers, or fellow warriors!

Buy a Battery Tender or Trickle Charger with the Quick Connectors and charge her overnight or until the full charge light glows on the charger.

Our bikes need good CCA's to turn the engine over and they tend to get gremlins when the battery is too low.

I've been thinking that it definitely needs a new battery. However it didn't sound like the normal pop through the throttle bodies; it sounded like something electrical... but also i haven't taken the tank off and cleaned my k&n's in quite a while.. i looked under there today to see if there was anything on fire and saw how dirty it was... i'm a bad father. But thankyou for the reassurance about the smoke.. i'll check it again whenever i get time. Is there anything that could burn out or break or anything as a product of the bike straining to start?

So it wound up just being a dead battery charge. Weird how many gremlins pop up just from a battery. Jumped it off of my firebird and rode it for about 10 minutes and shazaam; the thing cranks and runs like ****. Thankyou to all for your support and input. Ride on.
