well, i got a few new parts today. thanks to 07midnight57. sorry for your loss man. now i gotta figure out what to do with them. i don't have room or heat in my little shed and i don't have any idea of how to install them anyway. i talked to a shop and they said about 400 bucks, which means 700.00, and i don't really want someone else to do it. the dealer is out of the question. they said 12hrs {or more} at 65.00 per. plus i talked to the local "head" guy and he said they're like three weeks out and it only gets worse from here on out. that'd be o.k if i had it here at home because there are other things i could be doing to it. there's no point in getting a map put on it until i get a better clutch, is there. i trust the shop guys for the map. and for the clutch, all i need is the new plate/springs, yes? i could probably do that. plus i'm waiting for the dealer to tell me what they'll take for a "new" 2-1-2 pipe that they have on a leftover '08. i saw today that you can get a V+H propipe for 450.00. is the 2-1-2 better or are they gonna be about the same. i know a guy that has a auto shop. i asked if i could bring it up there and just have him watch over me on some things. i know. cars ain't bikes. but this is just "nuts and bolts" stuff. i have a manual and of course , all of you. i like that idea the best, but it'd still be staying at a crummy little shop for weeks on end. arrgh. anyway, should i work on getting the clutch done, then do the motor, with the heads, then the pipe, then the map. then start looking for rear tires. if i do all of this, i should be pretty close to 100 hp and maybe 120tqe. does that sound right? cams,pistons,gaskets,springs,stage4 ECU

Get Joey to help you, y'all could do that in one weekend. Jus kiddin.
![]() Seriously, you have many tasks. You seem like a common sense kinda guy so you already know to keep things CLEAN and ORGANIZED. I am new to the V-Twin world, but it looks straight forward compared to overhead cam engines. Good Luck and I will be watchin this post, even though I am satisfied with my "stocker" for now. . . |

I have installed that exact setup in mine and installed everything but the springs myself. Did not have a spring compressor. If you got a trailer drive up to Sioux Falls and I can definatly help you install it. Is not a to bad of a job. I am currently just running the stage4 ecu on mine. Unhooked the PC3 after trying many maps and it just seems to run best on the ECU. I am planning on installing a duel 02 sensor with gage and just do my own custom maps.

that's a great offer but it's still gonna be weeks if i want to have the heads done, which i kind of do want. i'm curious though. are you saying that IF i get it all together with a new pipe and all, that i could just plug in the new ECU and it would run fine? also any thoughts on yamaha's pipe over the V+H propipe. i think the yamaha pipe maybe looks a little better.

This is an offer that you should take. He has done ti already...BTW. I used a big wood clamp to compress my springs, worked great with my wife helping. The top end is extremely straight forward. I have not done the cams but that should be ok with Sky around. Clean and organized for sure. My best suggestion is you get a sh*tload of bags. BAG AND TAG EVERYTHING. If you will be taking a bit of time, this is extremely crucial IMO. You will like the result.

Who ever does the head work will most likely want to set up the heads, just drop off the springs with them. Might want to pick up some new valve seals as they will probably want those also. You can leave the speed* ecu off and down load a map from Dyno jet. The map I used is labeled " Yamaha power up kit with open velocity stacks with Propipe. It's a little rich but has no hesitations or flat spots and I knock down 40+mpg. My mods are pr standard bore pistons, pr springs, speed* cams with yamaha lifters, mild head work, and churchkeys intake with Propipe.
