Default Compression and Leakdown Tests

Does anyone know how to do the 'official' leakdown and/or compression Tests on our Warrior engines? My neighbor is about to buy mine and would like to know the condition of the engine. We all know these engines are incredibly low-stressed but numbers such as these two tests can actually tell how the engine is wearing.

Are there links available to us for this? He will be taking it to his mechanic friend (Honda and very good rep:}) but I am sure there are some important things to know with the Warrior.

Thanks:}

compression test is done with an engine compresion gauge. Do a cold dry one and one while the engine is warm. Carful when taking out the plugs when the engine is hot. The actual number for compression isn't as important as how close the cylinders are to each other. As for a leak down test... i hope someone else chimes in because i want to do this too.

For compression test.

Disconnect the decompression solenoid.
Remove 2 left side spark plugs.
Disconnect one primary wire from each coil or if the fuel tank is removed disconnect the plug wires from the plugs.
Install compression tester.
Hold throttle wide open.
Crank engine.

Also see Service Manual Page 3-23 for extra handy info that will help with each step.

The leakdown is a bit more entailed. You need to manually put the cylinder on its compression stroke(tdc for the cylinder), connect the leakdown tester(which basically pressurizes the cylinder), then read the % of air that is leaking past the rings, valves,etc. It is good to have someone experienced there with you the first time you do it. After that it will become second nature.
