Tim,

About half way down this post I described the procedure. I used a Dremil tool with a cut off wheel.

Just thought I'd add some photos to the thread.

Taped up the lower tubes to protect them, measured 19mm (3/4"), and fitted a jubilee clip to use as a guide as per Youngja's instructions.

I used a Dremel tool with a fibre cutting disks.
They snap as easy as pototo chips and I went through about 20 of them before I got the knack of holding the dremel perfectly parallel with the guide clip!
Once cut, I followed Youngjas suggestion to file "inwards" carefully.
I left the clip on to help protect the chrome edge.
TIP: Whe cutting the second tube - make sure you use the opposite side of the clip - in case the edge is damaged during the first cut.
I then filed a tapered edge inside the cut tube.

The only things I did slightly differently, were that I sealed the raw edge with clear spray laquer, then when dry wrapped PTFE tape around the fork several times at the top of the lower chrome cover and then pushed it down inside the tube with a small screwdriver to give the tube some support. Finally I added silicon sealant as per the thread instructions, to the edge when pushing the tube up to meet the triple trees.

Finished job....

Thanks for the instructions Youngja - it all worked well. I hope these few images help future modders.
Total time taken from start to finish - around 3 hours.

Hey man, are your forkends and trees polished or chrome?

Thanks - contrary to the midnight black trend at the moment, I am adding some chrome / polished stuff to my midnight - just for a change.
I've always liked the "fatter" look that the tubes give to the forks.
