I have replaced it. The low beam was noticeably brighter (and that's noticeably brighter than the other HID, which was already brighter than the stock light). So the reflector did work. The high beam is better, but not super great. But to be fair, I haven't gone out in the country yet to work with it. I need to get out where it's dark, and adjust it again. I think I can get a pretty solid setup when I'm done.
I will say though -even if I didn't have high beam, the low beam is so much better I'd be ok with that (although knowing this, I almost wish I had just purchased a low beam setup. -Plus that would free up the wiring for the high beam switch, should I ever need a switch). And even if I get the high beam good, but not great, that's good too, because it's still better than the old high beam, which basically sucked. So right now I have a great low beam, and a decent high beam. I'm shooting for an excellent low beam, and a good high beam. I think without the proper bucket reflector, that's all I'll get, and I'm good with that. Bottom line I can see better, and people can see me better. And all that was under 50 bucks. Well worth it.

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but yes I think there is. I'll have to look.

I've been seeing some that have cut-outs like a port in the wide strap that is part of the tip reflector. I'm thinking that, because the straps seem to be shadowing the entire length of the bulb that some are making an opening which would allow some light to reach the lower portion of the headlight reflector, & maybe the light pattern would see some improvement. I may take my dremmel tool & make an opening in that strap, on the bulb I have, but I don't know where I should cut. From what I have been able to glean from all the bulbs I've been looking at, the "ports" don't appear to be in the same exact location, from bulb to bulb.

You rock...I'm all over the internet trying to find one that actually says "I work exactly like an everyday H4". Did I notice that yours is a 55W? Or is that just what the page defaulted to? Mine is a typical 35W unit. Last edited by jimsnorton; 11-16-2012 at 05:32 PM. |
