Default Garage Door opener

Came home tonight and punched the button. the garage door came up no worries. punched the button once I was in and the door started down a few inches and then reversed and came back up.

I thought I double pushed to I tired it again and same thing. When I release the door from the metal piece that follows the track, the trolley goes all the way down the track. It's only when the door is hooked up that it does this.

any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Your 'safety eyes' may not be aligned or your downward pressure setting is too light. Check all rollers and tracks to make sure everything is where it belongs. Tough to diagnose from 'outasight':}:} Good luck....

I've "run" the track and I don't see any obstructions. The chain looks good. I unplugged it and will see if it resets itself.

I'll check the down pressure as well.

Where are the eyes usually located? I looked for them but it wasn't obvious to me what I was looking at.

Sorry for all the technical speak (sarcasm) but I'm a first time home owner and we never had a automatic garage door opener growing up...well we did, it was me.

The safety eyes should be located about 12 to 18 inches above the floor. There should be one on each side of the door and should be aimed at each other. In most cases there should be a light on them and the light on one of them will chane colors. It will be one color when the aim is correct and a different color when the aim is not correct. They are easy to align. Some are mounted to the track and some are mounted to the frame but in either case they can easily be knocked out of alignment.

Let us know what you find.

I certainly will. I probably won't mess with it too much more tonight for the neighbor's sanity.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

We're goning to go with the down pressure tension. In a lovely Mystbusters style double adjustment, I left it unplugged all night and readjusted the down tension at the same time and it seems to work ok.

I still couldn't find the electronic eyes so I'm guessing the system is too old or works on resistance. (i.e. feels something bump and stops to reverse.)

Thanks again for the help fellas and if it starts acting up again I'll hit you up for more suggestions but as for now, we're go.

This is the second brand new member that has posted on garage doors, with advertisements for garage door companies in their signature. And as noted last time, the grammar in your website is terrible.

I'd welcome you to the forum, but I'm thinking you're just trying to steer business to your below average website.

Either way, you can't advertise your business in your signature without a vendors license.

Fishing for business. First and only post. I couldn't get through the first 3 sentences before I bailed. Not to mention he is responding to a thread that is over 2.5 years old.

Problem solved. I removed the first guy and AZW got the next.

Remember to use the report post button when you see stuff like that. Thanks to those that did.

Carry on.
