Default Thanksgiving

I know it's early, but I have a lot to be thankful for right now. My son was born on 10/24 and immediately admitted into the NICU for a blood issue, Sandy came and knocked out power, heat, running water & cable, although the Jeep & Warrior were spared by being in the upper level garage in my building (lower level was 7' underwater). Happy to say that power was restored on the 3rd, my son came home on the 4th (thank God, cause carrying 5 gal buckets of water up to the 12th floor to flush the toilet sucked), heat came on yesterday, water turned on this afternoon & hot water this evening! Still no cable...whatever. I was sent out to Breezy Point, Queens on Tuesday night with my Engine company and let me just say, I'm not going to complain about what me & my family had to deal with. At least we still had a roof over our heads. The devastation out there was tremendous and very sad. I was humbled. So I have a lot to be thankful for and I guess I just wanted to share

Glad to hear you have an upbeat spirit in a less than comfortable time. That kind of spirit gets you through. Good news about your son too! Hope conditions continue to improve for you.

Thanks guys, I just wanted to share some perspective and maybe let other forum members who may be having tough times that things can almost always be worse. I'd also like to say thanks to all the utility & transit workers out there. I watched them work 24/7 after the storm until they got the majority of NYC up and running again, and they're still working to restore service in some areas. I don't mean to sound all preachy, cause trust me, that's not me lol. Oh yeah, took advantage of the 50 degree temps today and rode my black beauty into work Yup, life is good!

It sounds to me like you have your head and heart in the right place. I wish you all the very best, and I sincerely hope that America heals fast from the hurt and destruction that storm has caused. Prayers for you child please keep us updated.
