Default Hotwarrior's fundraiser

My busy wife ( with 4 month old boy and me to care for!) has taken on another challenge. See link:

Independent Fundraiser Events of Nova Scotia: Independent Fundraising Events in Nova Scotia

Her Mom was about 40 when she started to have troubles due to brain tumours that turned out to be cancerous. (Lisa was only 12 ).

She had many ups and downs and chose not to tell her kids that in Jan of 2010, doctors gave her 8 to 12 months to live. She didn't want them to worry or treat her differently .. and did not want that cloud over our wedding that August. She attended and even danced at the wedding and seemed quite good.

Without going into too much detail , she went into hospital that December and passed away in January 2011 at only 53 years of age.

Many of the very costly medications that helped Jean to live a relatively full life through those years were not covered by health care but the Canadian Cancer Society which is largely funded through donations stepped in to help.

Lisa asked me a couple mornings ago how I would feel about her shaving her head and explained that she felt a need to take this step of gratitude and support. I am behind her 100% as it is a great cause and I feel it will be cathartic for her to work through this challenge and add yet another positive chapter to her Mom's legacy.

Thanks for reading this and for any encouragement and support (monetary or otherwise). The link shows her progress and watch this thread for some pics of Lisa with her head shaved in April!

Words cannot express my agreement with what you're doing.

My wife is battling Breast Cancer and the fine folks here have been a great encouragement to us.

Here's a picture of us (my head shaved in an act of solidarity).

Here's a picture of our family and friends who joined us on a breast cancer walk last month in Corpus Christi, TX.

I lost my mom to cancer in 2009, so I know first hand the effect on families.

Sallie and I humbly offered a small donation toward your wifes goal.
I pray for your family to receive peace and comfort.

God Bless,
Doc S

Really appreciate the support, I gave myself a huge goal of $10 000 before April 27th, so every bit helps! It is a cause that means alot to me because I know that cancer effects everyone in one way or another

I feel her pain. The forum is a great place to express our pain, suffering, life and use it as an escape. I lost a sister to cancer in January 2011, baby brother to cancer Christmas day 2011, mother died to cancer in March of 2012. Every holiday for a year is the first time you have had this holiday without them. Healing comes but the pain is indescribable to those that have not been through it. WORTHY cause for sure.
