Sucks for the workers, but good for the over weight people!

A few hundred? Try more than 18,000. Now is not the time to be loosing jobs. As for their "creations", I won't be missing them. There is not one product of theirs I use. I wouldn't call any of it food. Just a conglomerate of chemicals.

18,000? Wow, I had no idea that bakery was that big. Is this number from just one location, or do they have satellite operations? Man, that is an awful lot of families that will have a dismal holiday season this year.

They have numerous plants. That number is low since it does not include all the 3rd party businesses that support a factory

You have to consider the collateral damage to all the ancillary businesses also. Most of those workers probably ate lunch at a local restaurant for one. Those restaurants bought supplies from some other business, etc, etc......

Yea, I heard about this too. It seems have stemmed from the workers union demanding more pay and increased bene's. Hostess stated that they could not afford what they were asking. Union then went on strike. Hostess a few days later asked its employees to come back to work under the existing terms or they would close production. The union thought they were bluffing - well guess not.

Hopefully none of our forum members were Hostess employees. Terrible news to hear the week before Thanksgiving.

Default Nut up or shutup

Good news on the Twinkies front. Management and the union involved in the strike have agreed to mediation in hopes of staving off the liquidation of the companies assets, and getting everyone back to work.
