The crazy thing about this time of year, no matter who you get to ship it, with the volume and the part time help that drivers get to be runners for them, you are playing with fire no matter what you do or who you use. The USPS does have the Federal Gov't on it's side that if someone steals etc. the Postmaster can get involved and the law will convict. However, it's a crap shoot. Then you have people who are too lazy to work but are over achievers who will follow the trucks to see what goodies they can get for Christmas! Be aware; the thieving Grinch is not always green or in a Santa suit. ;-}

Not a fan of the USPS. I prefer UPS because I can hold packages on the fly at the local station for pickup. FedEx is not bad either. FedEx Home services are the worst. They have left packages at the right street #, just the wrong street name. And they do not have a internal system to track/contact drivers while they are out delivering. And the drivers in my area do not return to the station at the end of a shift. So you have to wait until they contact you a day later to figure out they F'd up.
I would NEVER have a package with that value left at my door. |

I've never had any issues with usps and i prefer them over all the others. Fedex and ups have delivered my packages to the wrong street/ wrong address where as the mailman knows where i live lol. Yes they are the slowest for shipping but their also the cheapest. I mailed a package from connecticut to the UK and let me tell you usps was over $100 cheaper then fedex and ups.

Noise, check usps.com I believe some packages can be held-for-pickup at the local post office. But it might be just the flat-rate prioity boxes and maybe not the cheapest Parcel Post, which seems odd but I never asked the post office about it. It might be worth asking?
