Default My recent U.P.S. rant

Yesterday I was reminded why I prefer FedEx to handle my shipping & deliveries.

I ordered 2 I-Phone 5's for my wifey & daughter and a Canon Digital Camera for Christmas Gifts. They were purchased from 2 separate retailers but it just so happened that they were scheduled to be delivered on the same day which was yesterday. So, I tracked the delivery from 9am-7pm and they showed as not being delivered which was okay because my thinking was it's the busy time of the year for them and the trucks are loaded and running a little behind schedule. I get home from work no packages, so I'm thinking no problem the big brown truck hasn't made it to our community yet. 6:30pm no truck, 7:30 pm no truck, 7:50pm no truck and now I'm getting a little concerned because those 3 little gizmo's have a combined value well over $1300.00. So, I grab my laptop and track the packages and it shows that both packages were delivered @ 12:51pm and left @ the front door. Now I'm really worried because we all work during the day and nobody's @ home.
I go outside and look and my neighbor has 2 small cartons @ his door. So I walk over and sure enough my 2 packages are sitting there.

Whewwwwwwwww !!!!!!!!!

Well, on the good side....you got your stuff.....

Seems to be pervasive. There are people who just don't seem to want to work, like we all used to, anymore. They want their money, but.........

I think that would be more on the delivery guy than UPS....but I could be wrong. I have pretty good luck with UPS here, it's just I am at the end of a route, so I never see them before 6-7pm....

Could have been OnTrac....they come as late as 9:30 or later.

Glad it worked out right for, crisis averted.......

Thats always scary when expensive stuff doesn't show up. UPS is usually ok but I prefer to use USPS, cheaper and quicker from my experience. As a matter of fact I dropped a part in the mail yesterday on my lunch (around 12) to a member in Nevada and he messaged me last night saying he got it! WTH! I have seen 1 day Priority mail to close areas but same day?! Unbelievably fast

+1 on USPS, they have a lot going for them.
1. We all need a Postal System so we should ALL be using it as much as possible
2. Their prices are great, flat rate shipping boxes rock
3. Like Jbat said, I have moved stuff in one day quite often, 2 days half way across America
4. REPEAT, we ALL need a stable Postal System just to show societal stability

True to all responses above and yes it was the driver or maybe even his helpers error but late tracking record update really made me nervous. Plus, here in Maryland we seem to have a growing problem with thieving scumbags trailing UPS/FedEx deliveries and snagging deliveries from people front doors. For a hot minute I thought for sure they got me.

In my area, UPS or FedEx is the best compared to USPS. Not even a close contest.
Sometimes UPS will share the task, UPS ships it nationally then USPS delivers it locally.

oh man thats a little scary. My UPS man is great!(knock wood) he even brings up my newspaper from the driveway when he delivers a package and when its obvious that I get parts for the bike (tires etc) he will even drop them in the garage if its open.

on another note my father in law works for fed ex part time (at 80 years old as a package handler..because he likes it) and says he would NEVER ship anything fed ex.

I have no problems (yet) with either of them but years ago at work we used airborne express (dont even know if they are still in business) we used to ship small amounts of radioactive materials to universities/research labs etc. and we had to label the **** out of the boxes with "radioactive" "hazardous material" " if the integrity of this container is compromised please contact xxxxx immediately" stickers. one day i walked into the lab and there was a package that I had shipped out a couple of days earlier except it looked like the guys from office space mistook it for their printer...completely demolished. Turns out, one of their trucks RAN OVER the package...no calls, no worries, they just carted it all over gods creation with them until they got back to my stop the next day. Luckily the tiny 1 ml vial inside the basketball size packaging was still intact, but if that didnt make them call someone, what would?

That is depressing news, thieving scumbags following the UPS trucks. Hopefully we don't have that here on the eastern shore yet. I guess it's because almost every home over here owns a 12 gauge, we reload our own shells, and rock salt is plentiful here.
