Alright so im going to take a look at a f250 today, it has the 5.4 v8 and 117k
I'll post a link of the craigslist ad, what do you guys think? too high miles for the year, please keep in mind I'm in ny so these trucks get hit a little harder in the winter months. 2003 Ford F250 Lifted FX4

I have a 2000 250. For me it's the best Ford I've owned.
BUT! DON'T buy any 99 through 2010 5.4 liter Ford. Unless you are aware of and can deal with a couple of expensive issues. 1) Sparkplugs... 2) Leaks from the cylinder head... You can google "Triton sparkplugs". They begin to fail just around 100 - 150k. Good luck! |

Summer truck or year round ? Driving a 2WD in the winter isn't much better than driving a Camaro or similar and they barley go on flat ground.
Missed it guess it's 4WD Last edited by LASTCHANCE; 12-05-2012 at 02:27 PM. |

**OUCHHHHH** @ $10,800
Double **OUCHHHHHH** because it's a FORD and those funky plug & head issues but keep in mind it's a truck & it's used not new. Be prepared for the little surprises because they can be a big surprise & bite your pockets. I gave $4,200 cash for this 1 owner Silverado Z-71 LS w/ 92,XXX back in July and other than funky fuel gauge sending unit I'm very pleased with it. ![]()

I know a couple of people who went down this road. The short version... If you don't know what yer doing on a 97 - 2003, you'll prang the threads in the aluminum head as you remove the plugs (theres only five threads). Since there is no way to properly torque the new plugs into the damaged head... The plugs will come loose in the next few thousand miles. They eject with some force, and frag the COP, and sometimes denting the hood. Thread repair "in frame" can be done, but they don't last. Cost is about 200 per jug. Ultimately you're gonna replace the heads, and that might not be so bad. BUT You gotta pull the Cab to get the heads off!! |

mileage to high .seen to many problems with them unless you know for a fact of the sservice record. yhe 05-07s oil pressure leaks down internaly due to crank shaft thrust washer. seen it happen at 60k.to much money.plus once pressure drops it well cause timing concern due to vct

Nice QQn truck and the mileage isn't too badd given the year of the truck. IMHO, I'd pass on it and try to buy newer with less miles in stock form with no mods. Dropping 10k on any used truck with the same miles is a roll of the dice (sometimes you'll win & sometimes you'll lose.
