I saw a discussion where someone said 'the girls can never go back for risk of spit in their food' and the conversation progressed to a point where most agreed this trouble is likely systemic in that restaurant. The general 'feel' was that if someone in a restaurant has the guts or stupidity to type 'fat girls' on a computerized receipt a customer might see (and co-workers will see), then they also have the guts or stupidity to spit in your food and not say anything. Nobody in the conversation thought it was an innocent reminder note, but who knows.
The discussion's logic sometimes seemed flawed only to the extent it assumed the employee actually did spit in people's food (which presumably somehow has less chance of getting caught). But in the end the flawed logic didn't matter because most were obviously thinking about the part of the picture bigger than themselves. For example, most said they wouldn't want their family or friends in that restaurant because its not worth taking the chance. So for a lot of people this is a bigger question than just taking one side or the other. As a restaurant customer, I think that employee needs to be gone so they understand that while their personal intolerance has a price on their target it also has a price to them. Maybe some co-workers need to be gone too, they should look into it. Bottom line, I tend to agree this 'fat girls' note on the receipt is probably the tip of the iceberg and who knows maybe the behavior points to bad management or supervision and that would mean its not just one employee being intolerant. So I think the girls did the right thing bringing it to the restaurant's attention AND to the public's attention, funny mental images aside. But that's only my personal opinion. Something else I was thinking about last night. Maybe the girls didn't know the ridicule they would get and so maybe they will stay quiet next time, and that would be too bad for all of us. I don't care if they are fat, its their business. But I do care if a restaurant allows or encourages this kind of intolerant behavior because there's no telling where each individual employee's tolerance limits might be that day.

I guess I just have thicker skin than most maybe? I hear "Yo, Fat Boy!" I turn around and look to see if they are talking to me. I might respond with a "Yo, A55h0le, wadda ya want?" otherwise I just keep it moving. But I can sort of see your point Leader.
The only thing I think that has ever "offended" me was a recount I heard from an ex con describing how he was arrested for raping a 3yo girl.

Now lazy, stupid or something like that, well that would be a different story. So different words hurt people different ways I guess...

Are you sure? According to the article the original server(waiter) Jeff wrote the original order, however his time was up and he left the premises. C'mon use some common sense, no other logical explanation. Who in their right mind would intentionally hurt someone they didn't even know? I'm sure the offensive description was meant to be deleted.

I meant the waiter who handed them the bill.
Please don't accuse me of not having common sense, I don't even recall disagreeing with you other than pointing out two different people were involved.

A quote from one of my favorite movies "Summer Catch" I like big girls and they like me!!!! lol but NO reason to put that on a check, my daughter is a big girl and if some jackass calls her "Fat Chick" and I hear them Daddy's gonna unleash 275lbs of pure man on their sarcastic smart A$$.......Some big people can not fix their weight problem and I for one feel to judge a person by what you see on the outside is just plain FU@KED UP!!!!!

I am sorry Michael, I certainly did not mean that to be interpreted as you have. I guess I just always try to see the best in people. I agree he should have not used that as a reference, lack of thinking on his part.
