Default cage windo tint ?

The problem: 57 Chevy 2 dr wagon build, the original side glass has fogged plastic from age along the bottoms between the inner/outer glass & looks like poop. Replacing the 4 pieces (2 of them curved) will cost close to 1K Then the rest of the old glass will look bad. Cost is 14-1500.00 for all the glass.

Don't want to make/nstall sheet metal inserts for the sedan delivery look.

Has anyone had window tint installed on the outside of cage windows & will it hold up?

Here's a pic

I doubt it. What you could do is a vinyl wrap on the windows. You can get it so you can see out with no wording/graphics, just like on a bus. The only issue may be local tint laws. Not sure of what percentages are available/legal.

Great idea.. Hey church, there is a place on Kingston Pike in Knoxville that does these wraps. No issues with the law for the back side windows.. You could have them done in black and it would likely look great..

They have their service trucks "wrapped" and they look pretty good..

Some 'security film' (anti-shatter and bomb-blast films) can be applied to the outside. I don't know if they are tinted or just solar-shielded but bet some are tinted. Its mostly used for buildings but its also used on car glass. A quick google yielded this, sorry short on time at the moment: Safety and security window films Safety and security window film - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

3m makes a paint protection film. It comes in clear and smoke. I have it on my headlight in smoke, not real dark but would do the trick. I owe you at least a favor, if you like I can get some (tell me how much you need) and I can send it your way. A buddy of mine tints and does the paint protection as well.

Default Wow

I did not want to comment on this thread because it will cause me to call the guy with a 55 Chevy for sale locally. Then I would have to sell my 94 vette etc. Then my lady-friend would get pissed off.
I had a 56 Chevy back in 68/69. Put a vette 327 in it, balanced blueprinted crower cam(flat tappet), thing would rev to over 8K. Mickey Thompson slicks and 5:38 rear gears for the 1/4 mile. It would bust spider gears and twist axles. I used 2:90 gears for the highway and it would cruise at 90mph.
**** we use to use a rattle can spray window tint for the inside of the windows. You spray it on top of window and it would run down, what a mess.
Well you probably figured out what you are going to use. However, as I know you know, be careful, what works for one person's application may not work for yours. You know, a driver is different than a show car etc.
BTW, I bet you have threads in another website illustrating your build etc. Let us know more, if you want...

Thanks for the tips guys I now have some options for my "driver".

As far as tinting the inside only it will make the fogged areas more visable.

There were many pics of the 57 build in my gallery at one time but only 3 bike pics now.

Also have a C4 w 6sp.
