Thumbs down Since when does young = slow

OK, just a word up front that this is coming from SoCal.

We often lead the USA in trends and seems like we may have a new one.

The young guns, those 35 and under, are buying HD cruisers instead of sport bikes in greater numbers.

I see them all the time now, work boots, flannel shirts, retro open face helmets with metal flake paint, feet forward with loud exhausts.

And, they are slow as crap. I mean so is a Warrior, but we accept this. It is fast for a crusier and that is enough for most of us. But young = slow, WTF.

But when I was that age, back in the day, no fricking way would I want a bike, car or gal that was not fast.

Yet, there it is.

So, besides dusting them with the Warrior or Speed Triple, I just look and wonder.

Have they watched too many episodes of SOA ? What is up ?

With the amount of inexperienced dumbazz kids that kill themselves on sport bikes I hope this trend of younger people riding cruisers takes off everywhere. To hear someone imply we need more young people riding sportbikes just seems crazy to me. To me most younger people buy sportbikes because their cheap, If todays youth can afford to buy harley's more power to them.

Perhaps, but we get quite a few inexpereinced dumbazz dead ones on cruisers as well. I think you can ride a cruiser in a reckless manner, I see this on a regular basis.

Sportsbikes - well at least they handle and brake well which can save lives. But, darwinism still rules and the right hand does kill quite a few young guns.

But back to my posts point - why are the young guns going all slow and cushy. What is up with that ?

Maybe their smartening up? I think you cali boys are spending too much time in the sun, why would anyone complain that todays youth are riding too slow?

Seems that way here too. Tons of guys buying blacked out sportsters, wide glides, and wearing bandanas and sleeveless t shirts. So many are doing it, its almost second hand embarassment when i see them. Then they see my bike and its like "dam, thats a 1700 and u paid 8k? How mucj torque does it have stock? **** my 110 screaming eagle that i paid 25k for only has xx lb ft stock!" Who makes that bike?" Lol, o catch harley "kids" scratching their heads looking at my bike all the time.

Also keep in mind a basic harley isnt out of reach for a young guy anymore. They are getting cheaper and dont hold value like they used to. Especially with the sportsters and such. People laugh when guys around here try to get 14k for an hd with 30k miles on it.
