Default Warrior Power Question

Before I post my question/statement here, I want to make it know that I am not criticizing the Warrior by any means, just want to make sure mine is running right.

Here is the question/statement:
I read frequently on this site how fast the Warrior is and you have to hold on when you roll on the gas, definitely not a beginners bike, etc... while I agree that it is pretty quick I know that I was that I wasn't surprised by it and actually expected a little more. My other bike in the garage is a Gen 1 VMax that has had exhaust and carb work that puts out 76.1 ft lbs torque and 117.0 hp, just about the inverse of a Warrior, so I assume that the reason I was not surprised has been caused by what my other bike is, another quick out of the hole and through the 1/4 mile bike. So those of you who have ridden a Warrior first then a VMax or raced a VMax on your Warrior, I would like to know your thoughts, etc. They are both fun to ride but it is night and day in the curves, VMax handles like a pig while the Warrior brings back memories of carving corners on my old FZ & FZR.

Here is my assessment:
Warrior may be quicker out of the hole if you get a good hole shot, but think you will be neck and neck until the middle of 2nd when the VMax will walk away from the Warrior.

Like I mentioned earlier, the only reason I ask is to make sure my Warrior is running right not trying to start a huge argument or bash my Warrior, just if it isn't running up to snuff want to know.

Could you tell us what mods you have?

Have you had it dyno'd?

Do you have a FMS?

Have you checked your plugs lately?

What kind of mileage are you getting?

I can't compare bikes, but I might be able to help you figure out what it should feel like based on what you have.

a v-max will walk on a warrior. two different breeds of cat. you called it right. without question the warrior has been surpassed by many other cruisers. you can have them. a shelby mustang has been surpassed by lots of cars and i'd still rather have one of those.

the vmax is hands down faster. not even in the same class.
i've ridden and raced vmaxes a lot, one of my best friends has one and ive taken it out for several hour rides plenty of times. of course we like to be over generous with the warriors power etc. we're on a rswarrior forum nonetheless. i guess it also depends how much you've done to it, with my vbak exhaust custom dyno tune etc. i definitely feel a good difference from stock. when racing the vmax my buddy generally wins but its not like the warrior gets completely owned, especially with the gen 1 vmax it gets rather wobbly once you get in those higher speeds. but yeah once the vboost kicks in its over. v4 vs vtwin is usually a win for the v4

Thank you all for not pummeling me for asking the question! The Warrior is a great bike and I enjoy riding it and feel much better now knowing that my thoughts/opinions were well founded and it is probably running correctly.

Thanks!

OK, well you can pick up about 8ish HP with a VBAK, you're probably running lean with that Dale Walker (definitely will be when you add the VBAK) and also add about 10 ft/lbs of torque with the VBAK. You will then need some sort of FMS to correct the lean condition. It makes a huge difference -as you would guess. After you do these basic mods, it may not feel like your V-Max, but I think you'd be pretty happy with it.

Thanks Leader, but don't get me wrong I am happy with the bike, they are two different beasts, just wanted to get a feel or confirmation of what I thought. I plan to do the VBAK and FMS eventually, was kind of holding off until we see what happens with the new Cobra CVT FI2000 or what ever it is, seems like several people are still having some issues with it even after the new boards are put in them.

Had a Gen 1 VMax for 4 yrs...VMax will SMOKE a Warrior drag racing.
Different tools for a different job...sold the VMax and own a Warrior. Warrior is basically an air cooled V-Twin cruiser with extra handling and accelerative capabilities. In my opinion and experience - if you want fast - water cooled 4 cylinder is the answer.
Current Stable:
My (kinda) fast hauler is a K1200 BMW - eats long distances, comfy, sterile and quick.
My cruiser is a Warrior - loud, ballsy and not fit to ride 300 miles.
Love'em both

My thoughts on it is the warrior is fast for what it is most 600+Lb cruisers are good to around 100 some less. then the bike itself will scare the crap out of you redunkulous vibes, walking all over the road. You can set the Warrior on 125 and it's stable and true, the wind is giving you fits but the bike wants another gear and 150. the low end grunt is a lot of fun also good ole' second gear WOT power out of a corner, rear tire braking traction just a tad a slight wiggle and your gone just like a sport bike but instead of that high pitch "cat done got stepped on" whine. you just set alarms off and woke up the dead. in other words It's got soul man.
