i wear a size 8 hat to, i find the shoei xxl to fit nice but in an arai i wear an xl, 95% of the time its xxl, you have to remember its your noggin your protecting and you get what you pat for, for a medium level helmet i would suggest bell, they make a great product, look out for closeouts to on websites as i have found those 700.00 helmets at a 1/4 of the price, i think motorcycle closeouts is where you can find some great deals on high end helmets cheap

I agree with the you get what you pay for statement to a certain degree. After a point you are paying for name and additional little touches. The $89 Z1R helmet in the crash testing proved this( if you believe/trust the tests) . As a simple analogy a $100k Mercedes Benz S-Class compared to a $20k Toyota Camry. The Benz is no better than the Camry as a vehicle. The Benz just adds extras. Research is key. Research as much as possible before you make a decision as it is your head.
