Default Helmet suggestion for a melon head

Hey all,
Its about time to look for a new helmet for me. I am one of those bigheaded bastards that everyone talks about, must be because of of my massive brain and brain power lol. my current helmet is a HJC CL-SP I have had it for about 7 years and have had one minor accident with it so its really time to change out. one of the reasons that I bought that helmet is because it fit me. I wear a XXXL in HJC. because of my head size i am really limited..anyone have any suggestions. I cannot afford a $700 helmet so I am looking for something under $500.
thanks
Mike

I too wear a XXXL. I forget what I bought about 1.5 years ago, but it fits great and isn't very expensive. My son just said HJC. It is a CL16. That may be what you have. I like mine very good.

Speed and Strength (Fame and Fortune)

Speed and Strength SS1000 Fame & Fortune Full Face Motorcycle Helmet - BikeBandit.com

many other vendors, some with closeout prices.

I have paid 200 to 300 bucks years ago for different helmets, this is better than any of those. If you can find a local shop or do a search online for what other riders say.

I just picked up an HJC CL MAX 2 modular in XXXL. I really like it, it is the best fitting HJC i have had, and i am really enjoying the modular. for under 150.00 it's a great helmet.

The only thing that i wish it had, (but not willing to pay another 100$ for) is a flip down sun shade.... other than that, i really like it.

GMAX makes great helmets for us big head folks (XXXL). Jafrum has the best prices on GMAX helmets. The GM68 won webbikeworld's helmet of the year a few years back. I have the GM68 and the GM54 modular. I also purchased an HJC but it didn't fit as good as the GMAX helmets. I sold the HJC. The GMAX helmets came with a tinted shield along with the clear shield.

Disclaimer...I do not work for GMAX. Found a helmet that fits my big head perfectly.

Check out Jake Wilson. they have a great closeout section with a pretty good chioice of helmets at great prices. i picked up a scorpion exo 700 for under $200

Motorcycle Parts, Discount Motorcycle Tires, Motorcycle Gear, & Motorcycle Accessories check out the closeout section in the top bar they also have good prices for tires at least compared to what we pay here in Canada

Being one of the melon clan, I know where you are coming from. If you are going full face, the shape of your head/face will matter too. I normally wear an 8 in a baseball cap. I bought two helmets recently.

The iicon xxxl has a small opening, but fits well once it is on. Really not a helmet I can just whip off, taken off slowly, it won't rip my ears off. Fits and feels great once it is on.

The Scorpion xxxl fits fine, and goes on, comes off easier than the iicon. I like them both and use them both. Keep a clear visor on one and a dark visor on the other. If I'm starting out in daylight and planning to be home after dark, either helmet feels fine with sunglasses under the clear visor.

Got em both at Motorcycle Superstore. If its not on sale now, it will be sometime soon.
