Default Motorcycle officer killed in accident had green light

Even with a siren and emergency light on, we are sometimes invisible. The officer was 35.

Some quotes from the article.

A Prince William County motorcycle officer who was killed in an accident Saturday afternoon was driving through a green light with his lights and siren on when his cycle was hit by a minivan, authorities said in an update released on Tuesday.

Police said he had his emergency lights and siren activated and a green light as he headed south on Nokesville Road. Police said a 2001 Dodge Caravan driving by a 47-year-old woman from Gainesville pulled out of a shopping center, attempting to make a left onto northbound Nokesville Road, crossing in front of the officer.

Yep, that is exactly why I ride like everyone on the road is actively trying to kill me. Not like they don't see me; but like they see and want me dead. So far has served me very well.

Prayers to the officer's family, so sad they have to deal with this.

+1.....I am always watching and keeping as safe a zone around me as I can.....green light, double yellow lines, speed limits or not. They all fail to the wayside compared to my perception of being safe.

Very sad to lose a biker, even worse to lose one of our public servants. We ask them to put their life on the line, but not for this.

Feel bad for the family.

driving like everyone is trying to kill you is the only way to survive. its the reason i didnt get totaled when the loser ran a red at 60mph +. im still putting the monster back together but i came out of it okay and i can now tell everyone icon jackets are awesome.

uhh ohhh. a few years back there was a spate of fatality/very bad accidents that made the news in prince william county (the county where this occurred) in which the drivers that caused the accidents were illegal immigrants. it caused a pretty big backlash in that county. Dont know any details on this accident but I hope this $hit doesnt blow up like the Godfather

Mike there were two accidents out in the Gainsville area which involded people with non-usa sounding names. In one of the articles, people bashed the suspect as illegals before knowing all the facts. but the driver did not have a drivers license and hid in the back of the van he was driving. The police needed the witnesses to identify the driver.

Also, Prince William use to have a program that they checked people they suspected are not legally in the country. I read in a article that they stopped the program because it was not finding a enough suspects being here illegally.

Here is another news peice with pictures. The lady made a left in front of him, trying to enter a shopping center. Both vehicles were totaled due to a fire.
