Try contacting Yamahasportsplaza.
You might be surprised at how much a new one costs. You might not too - ha ha - but it's got to be worth a phone call! Good luck.

The TPS was a recall item. Contact your dealer with your VIN and find out if the recall was done on your bike.

Or you could check the VIN on your bike. There were a few recalls on the 02. The VIN should show if the work was done. See attached pic.

Great advise to check recall status first. I don't know if there is a TPS Recall Kit that is lower-priced (like they had with the CPS Recall Kit).
As far as I know the newest part# for a TPS fitting 2002-2007 bikes is 3P6-85885-00-00. If you are NOT buying from a Yamaha dealer then avoid 5PX-85885-00-00 as it was the recalled part. Hopefully if you ARE buying from a Yamaha MC dealer they would NOT sell you the recalled part! This is from Tomba's 'Popular Mods and Repairs' thread: Throttle Position Sensor: 2002-2005: 3P6-85885-00-00 (replaces 5PX-85885-00-00) Throttle Position Sensor: 2006-2007: 3P6-85885-00-00 (replaces 5PX-85885-01-00 which was the recall part number) Throttle Position Sensor: 2008-2009: 8GL-85885-00-00 (these years have a different throttle body part number) Where are you with this trouble: bike not running ALSO: your Member Profile's BIKE Tab is still empty so its getting harder to search thru a growing number of posts to glean data to help you. Do you have a Fuel manager for example a Power Commander? If yes, is the Power Commander a PCiii or a PCiii-USB? If yes, is there a crimp connector on the yellow TPS wire just below the TPS itself?
