Default Welcome to the 4m

AK
Welcome to the 4m! Alot of good members up in NorCal to help you get the bike sorted out to your liking.

I was the worst buyer of the bike. Walked into the dealer, saw it, bought it, rode it home, knowing nothing about the bike. After 80 miles I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life. Seat killed my lower back Thankfully I found the 4m.

I have a 90 mile round trip ride to work. A few simple mods and the bike is perfect for me. 2 years, 30K.

I like the Corbin Stinger/stilletto seat, Yami boulevard fairing, saddleman bags and Yami TT Bars.

Again welcome to the 4m

Doesn't sound like this bike fits you at all. You can do a ton of mods to it but it will still weigh in at over 600lbs. A cruiser is a cruiser is a cruiser. Sounds like your better option is a sport tourer.

Agreed Cruzader,
maybe even an M1800/M109 Intruder/Boulevard.
Quite fast, smooth, comfortable, 240 rear, water cooled, shaft drive, huge looking, lots of plastic, chrome and coloured, so no rust and a kickstand which you can use with your foot

j/k..........theamazingkickstand.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new Warrior

Gav.

Yep, especially now that he has discovered the reason for the poor performance of his (new to him) Warrior. I've had a few fast bikes, maybe not as fast as a Busa, but still plenty fast and I thought the Warrior had decent power the first time I rode one.

I am a big guy, 6'5" and 230 pounds. The bike performs for me the way that I need it to. IF I want to ride 300 miles to see my kids, I hop on the bike and take off. IF I want to drive into Tennessee and North Carolina and take on the Dragon Tail, I can. I have enough power to cruise and get out of the way of the big truck or the cagers that 'can't see a bike" and I can still lean with the best of them.

For cutting in between lanes and traffic, I stopped doing that a long time ago when someone opened the door as I was about to go by.

Welcome again. Hope the oil situation gets taken care of and you get it all tuned up. Once that's done, you may be surprised of the performance and actually like, dare I say, love the bike?

Many of us have installed a set of R1 forks. Some have changed to a 17" R1 front wheel. Both are bolt on mods. 17" wheel = sport bike tire selection = sticky tires. 02 up R1 forks are 7/8" shorter than the Warrior + 1/2" more drop with a 17" wheel = great turn in.

Stock bars can be narrowed 1" on each end, aftermarket bars = narrower.

You can shave the seat foam to fit your butt. Remove the cover & use an electric knife. Cover the foam with plastic for test fitting. When you have the way you like it sand the foam smooth, stretch the cover back over it & staple it in place.

I've been commuting on it for a few days now. Not bad. Not a top of the line racetrack watercooled Vtwin but.....I'm not tired when I get to my destination.
It's a bit wallowy but the suspension is all turned towards soft.

I just looked up some stats haha. It's about as fast 0-60 as an ST1300. Maybe I think it seems slow cuz it's stock and silent. So far its a keeper. I'd like to get rid of all the chrome bits and replace them with aluminum/gun metal/black/etc. Some lower non chrome, non bendy handlebars would be great too.

I'll be getting all the good bits I need from Churchkey. He's been very helpful via PM's. A power commander too I guess. I absolutely love the Dale Walker Holeshot exhaust and supposedly it adds some power. They're expensive though.
I like that first gear is super low and makes you shift to 2nd. I hate slamming into second gear cuz it always seems like abuse cuz of the gap.
Does raising the forks result in a better turn in for these?
Wish it had a 6th gear....

I complained about slow and no clearance for close to 50k miles before I got rid of my Warrior. I ride a C14 now and would love to have my old Warrior as a second bike.

It will grow on you but if you like quick/fast you will end up with something else.

I went from my Ducati of 12 years to my Warrior Queen. I did a lot of research before I bought and I knew as soon as I saw a picture of her that I was in love. I was committed from that moment. I just sold my Ducati actually....

There IS a huge difference between a sport bike and the Warrior. Obviously. If you feel she is right for you, you will make her what you want her to be. She mods quite well. I learn something new about her all the time and am loving it. I agree with LD.... one of the best parts of my Week is my time with her...

I hope you fall in love with her....
