Welcome to the forum:

Tighten up that suspension- makes a world of difference- especially cranking the preload up in the front.

I think everyone else addressed your concerns- we'll chalk the rest up to "new owner observations" Coming from a sport bike to this bike is certainly an adjustment- Including the fuel economy. V-twins are typically less efficient.

oh- and i know you didn't mean anything by it ( i think) don't label anyone on the forum as "cruiser guys" very few of us fit that mold... most of us try not to be those guys... especially as we are passing "cruiser guys" in the twisties.

this is the most Gear-Head forum for bikes I've ever been on....

I'm fairly certain the speedometer is very optimistic. 80mph is not 80. My butt tells me 87ish indicated is about an honest 80mph. RPM's seem kinda high for such a motor design. Are these engines ok sitting sitting at 3,500 rpm for hours on end? How about 4,000 rpm?
I rode for a solid hour at 100+ on part of a 500-mile trip. It's not particularly comfortable at that speed (especially without a windscreen, it's exhausting), but the engine doesn't care. I put in a big bore kit at around 35,000 miles, but there wasn't a thing wrong with it.

By the way, it doesn't take much of a windscreen to make a huge difference on your fatigue-level.

I've got almost 1000 miles on it now. The few hundred in heavy rain were great. I really don't know which bike to keep. I like the fact that I won't get speeding ticket on the highway but I miss just sneezing and shooting from 70mph to 105mph in the blink of an eye. On the warrior I really have to think and plan my passing maneuvers in heavy traffic.
Considering I'm 10 feet tall I absolutely love the leg room.....and the fact that there's no radiator and water pump to worry about....and not pulling the engine once or twice a year to adjust the valves. It needs a 6th gear. The gear spacing is perfect for real world use unlike sport bikes but it is buzzy at 80mph; feels very nice at 2500 rpm.

I'm almost forced to keep it cuz i bought a PC3, will need new tires yesterday, and promised churchkey to get VBAK. (Well plus I'm really curious what the PC3 and VBAK will do.)
The seating position and legroom is the biggest seller for me. (Even though I'll need to get that airhawk.)

I really need a new Vmax or Diaval but am way too cheap to get one. It's tough being me.

AK

You Da Man! Riding in the rain at 80+ and wanting to go faster.

The little Boulevard fairing works nice. Semperfit has a real sano looking bullit fairing on his bike. Plus it quick detach. He just did a posting on it.

Yep I'll need a proper windscreen for sure! It's not as bad as the Buell with home made handles bars and removed fairing but I still still need one. I read a few posts here that the Boulevard is a poor choice for us ten footers so I'm looking around for a bigger yet non hideous memphis shield police type thing.

Ha!! Between the effort of buying and selling two bikes and oil/dmv fee's/PC3/tires/etc. I probably spent more than what ST1300's are going for but whatev's....it's good to try new things.

I wouldn't be surprised that if I got something else I'd be thinking "**** this perfect commuter's boring. Should've gotten that Warrior 300 miles away!!" That's actually the exact reason I sold a perfect FZ1 after 3k miles. A million hp, upright seating, good tank range....and boring to ride.

Edit: I just read that the Vmax gets 27mpg and comes with a 4 gallon tank. F that! I don't care about the mpg but they should put 7 gallon tanks on bikes cuz some of us actually ride them.

This is a Clearview windshield on Lisa's bike. (needs Boulevard brackets) . Not a bad look. I think they have taller ones.

My 09 V-Max gets between 22-27 mpg. But makes 200 HP. The small tank is defiantly an issue. . .but I love riding the bike.
