Default New Warrior owner...we'll see for how long.

Hey all,

I just got a pristine 2006 Warrior with 3,900 miles and rode it home for 200 miles.
I'm coming off of much quicker sport bikes but needed something more comfy for my 80 mile commute. It was down to a Warrior and an ST1300 (srsly!) and the Warriors are a few grand cheaper.

Soo um....it's slow. I knew that going in but never experienced it.
First thing I need is a windscreen. Some initial disappointments were that the two chrome shields were getting in the way of my legs but I see that there's a way to get rid of both of those. Also the seat was surprisingly uncomfortable after an hour. I had a lot of pressure on my tail bone. I might get an airhawk so I can move it to the next bike if cruising isn't for me.
If memory serves the warrior is about as quick as a newer air-cooled BMW.

IF anyone is selling a

Non hideous clear shield with no chrome
Extended footpegs or floorboards
Hard-ish luggage with no straps or tassles
Black simple luggage rack
and the bits and pieces I'd need to remove those two huge chrome air intake bits on both sides I'd be very interested.
Not interested in chrome, studs, tassles, chaps, meth, crosses, doo-rags, etc.
I saw someone here had one of the chrome side covers replaced with a cross.
Has anyone seen a star of david cover for sale.....cuz I'd totally rock that....even if it had a bit of chrome.

Oh, do I have to worry about air cooling while crawling through traffic? Lane splitting on this was a bit more cumbersome than on my other bike.

Thanks,
Mike in (near) San Francisco, CA

Air cooling in traffic, no problem.

Welcome to the 4m.

Welcome I the forum and do some searching around in here, you find a great many of the mods you mentioned done with great writeups, along with exactly what you will need to complete them. And keep a heads up in the NorCal ride boards as there are a few of us in the area that like to get together now and then and ride.

O and as far as the slow part goes, there are plenty of things you can do to bring out the torque monster in this machine. For removing the right side airbox, contact member Churchkey and get his vbak intake that allows removal of all stock airboxes. And for the left side get an AIS removal kit and either shave your stock motor mount or contact KyleNV for one of his super clean left side motor mounts. You will need to relocate the stock FPR as well and at that point will be able to see the stock fuel dry break hidden under the left side so i suggest replacing it with something a little more attractive.

You know, I've owned my warrior over a year now and I still don't know what it is. Some say sport bike (doesn't handle that well) cruzer (not that comfortable) Speedster (not that fast) so I had to make it my own. I dig it now but I'm building a Sportster Café. If you want a full on cruzer why didn't you buy a HD dresser?

Welcome to the 4m......

I'll just say this..........

After some 20+ years of owning / riding hi-performance sportbikes I chose the RS Warrior as my very 1st V-Twin Cruiser bike and I don't miss them a bit. As a matter of fact I honestly feel I made the best choice out there as far as crossing over.
