Default Oh Oh, Tyres Again, Just a Question!

I have had Bridgestone 010's and 020's on my last 6 or 7 bikes over the last 12 years so I pretty much know how they work and feel.
I can get a pair of 020's for £280 fitted OR I might like to try the Avon Storm Ultra 2 at £225!!! Either way, not too bad a price!
I have read what seems like millions of tyre threads but what are the comparisons on our shitty UK roads?
Has anyone had experience with these two particular brands?
Cheers. Alan.

hey Alan, it's a no brainer.....go for the Storms.

I've had both sets, 020's and Storms. I'm on my second set of Storms and still have 1/2 tred left on the previous set. I changed the first Storms after Germany trip in 2010 for doing the 2,000 odd miles to Switzerland last year and did the 1500 miles this year to Tewkesbury, Dover and Surrey this year

Good handling, good grip, good in the wet, good mileage and good price.

Gav.

When I was in Scotland I burned through a set of Pilot Road 3's in a week. Of course, the middles were just fine, but the sides were long gone.

A good ride is one from which you can walk away. A great ride is one after which you can use the bike again.

I've had both, and would recommend the Avons over the Bridgestones. Even better, get the Avon in a 190. It is still something like a 194, so it's almost a 200, but handles better and is usually a decent amount cheaper.

I have had both on my bike, and I will tell you this. The Bridgestones at the end of one season still had some meat left, but I would not take a road trip on them. The Avon's still have meat on them after almost two seasons and good enough for a road trip. I would never go back to the Bridgestones, unless I got some ridiculous low price. Love my Avons!!

Haha....roads aren't THAT bad up here Alan, this is us driving over the edge of the Cairngorm mountains towards Tomintoul, off to see Dr Feelgood for the weekend..
I use the 200 for the rear, I may go 130 on the front in the future.

You can't tell it's not a 200. In fact, I kind of liked it because the bike sat a little lower. But when I hit the road, it was obvious there was a difference. They call it "flickability" and you notice right off. Plus, because it's a bit smaller, it rolls over easier. Just a better tire. If I had a 240 or bigger, that's one thing, but since I have a 200 rear end, the difference between a 200 and a 190 isn't worth 10 seconds of thinking about it. Cheaper, rides better, better mileage, more flickable, and 10 seconds are up done thinking... No comparison...
