I would say wait till it creaters. A lot of guys have had some pretty horrible experiences with some shaddy installs on this recall. When you decide to do it make sure that they will completely remove the entire sensor with it's wireing, not just cut and splice a new one in.

Do you ride on long lonely roads? If yes, then get it done.

Like said, make sure they replace the entire harness.
Oil is to be replaced also
Side case is opened so the gasket needs to be replaced, they may say they don't need to or.....if you mention it and later it leaks, you will be in a better position.
I did the recall myself, if you have tools and the service manual (torque wrench should be used), I am sure you could do it. I had to buy the part myself (~50 bucks) but felt better doing it myself to be sure it was done right.

Alternately, you can simply open the left side cover, clean (91% IPA) the part really well and epoxy (JB Weld) the wires to the sensor bracket. (That is what the recall is, they did not strain relief the wires enough and they break).

Someone might have a picture (maybe popular mods, in my signature)

In many words, YES, I think you should get it done...

Yeah I ride alot, open roads, freeway, city you name it, 71,000 on the odometer. I'm just not sure if it's needed since I've not had a problem

If I remember correctly, it shows itself in 1 of 2 symptoms.

1. The bike just stops running because one of the wires has completely broken off the sensor

or

2. The bike has sputtering around 2500-3500rpm and then passes through it.

Maybe I am just cautious, but I don't want anything to do with pushing this thing around....

If you will use a 'stealership' to do this, then maybe waiting is not the worst thing. I assume there are horror stories relating to this recall......

I would check with some of the guys out there and get a good dealer to change it out ---you should be able to get the oil free too-----they wont do the filter free though-or check with the dealer an have him check to see if the recall was done already before you bought it---other wize you might have to get "G" to helpyou push it
