    Not sure if my other message went through. I was saying the other bike is my wife's. Our son is the marine.

    you could get awaywithout the cutout, but you'd have to mount the bags higher or space them out further to do it. I wanted them as close and low as I could make them so I did the cutout. Believe me, it took me a while to get up the nerve to cut into a $500 hardbag, but now I'm glad I did.

    Some of the pics and the video were taken when I first did this mod and the bracket was made out of wood to make sure everything worked right. The photos I took this morning show the aluminum bracket.

    I'll get you some pics this weekend. The bags you got will work ok, they're just on the small side. And a WHOLE lot cheaper than the sixer bags.

    Actually, I did something kind of different because I wanted to be able to take them on/off easily. I started with the e-bay brackets ( Saddle Bag Supports -02+ Yamaha Road Star Warrior 1700 | eBay ) and attached a mounting plate to that. I can send you some pics if you're interested.
