I have found the most the people who ask what it is, is because they really like it, even if its not a harley...

Its kinda neat to have an unknown

Yeah, how dare anyone confuse the air cooled pushrod Vtwin belt driven Yamaha with the air cooled pushrod Vtwin belt driven Harley.[:'(].

I'm not talking just about the engine. I'm talking about the use of fuel injection and other

advances. I went to the New York motorcycle show about two or three years ago at

the Jacob Javits convention center and the one Harley rep. was showing how they

just started using rubber motor mounts.

Well considering Harley has had FI since the early '90s I don't get your point.  How about the new models with fly-by-wire throttle or ABS?  My Street Glide has GPS, electronic cruise control, and a passive alarm system from the factory.  Hell, they even come with a 6 speed transmission so tell me again where they are lagging in technology?  Rubber mounts have been used for a long time in the Harley line-up, not that it is anything impresive in and of itself but he was probably talking about the 2004 and up Sportster line.

regardless of what ever failed technology HD tried but then didn't put into it's standard machines I would not buy one simply based on the fact that most HD owners are racist, sexist, macho bigots who wont look at another bike simply because it is not American. Of course that is not the case with all HD owners but hey... if it is good enough for  some HD owners to look down their nose at all japper riders then it is good enough for some japper riders to do the same. Is it not?

    Besides.
The Warrior is simply the best cruiser on the market and those who disagree are obviously disillusioned.

" regardless of what ever failed technology HD tried but then didn't put into it's standard machines"

What are you talking about failed technology?  HD has had FI as an option since the summer of 1994.  It's standard on ALL bikes and has been since the 2007's were introduced.  Failed technology?  Really?

" that most HD owners are racist, sexist, macho bigots"

Step away from the crack pipe man, seriously.

I know a lot of guys on this forum that won't look at a Harley just because it's a Harley so I guess that makes them racist, sexist, macho, bigots as well.  Do you fall into the same category?I

"if it is good enough for  some HD owners to look down their nose at all japper riders then it is good enough for some japper riders to do the same. Is it not?"

That's your choice but just so ya know it makes you no less of an @sshat than the Harley rder that does it.

IMO Harley Davidson has never attempted to, or is even interested in marketing themselves as a "high-technology" company.  They purposely design their bikes look a certain way and promote them in a manner to further define their brand.  That commitment (along with other things) has earned HD the status it enjoys today in the market place. Like it or not, HD defines this "class" of motorcycle.  There is a reason why Yamaha engineers/designers made sure that the flagship bikes in the Star motorcycle line (Warrior included) had air-cooled V-twins, push-rods and belt drive - and it wasn't because of technical superiority or improved efficiency! Technically speaking the Warrior was obsolete the first day it was on sale in 2002.

HD's commitment to its brand identity is a double-edged sword.  On one hand their product is instantly recognizable to the general public - and even their competitors products are thought to be "Harley's" too. The thing that HD can be criticized for is that their entire model lineup are just subtle variations of the same theme and is unimaginative.  If the public ever gets tired of it, then they are in deep doo doo!  Obviously I like the Warrior because I bought one, but "best" is a relative term and it doesn't mean anything. Best in sales? value? performance? aesthetics?

This same conversation keeps popping up and is argued as often as Damon's anti-religion topics.  What's the point?  Everyone has pride in their ride, that's a good thing.  Mad, you've owned two Warriors and are an active forum member but I don't understand why you waste so much time on a WARRIOR forum acting surprised and practically offended that people overexagerate the downfalls of HDs and defending them.  I know, you view it as "educating" them which in a lot of instances I know you actually are but if they wanted to be educated they'd do research on their own.  Wouldn't it be easier and just as enjoyable to let people on the HD forums talk about how great their bikes are (even better then a Warrior) and let the guys here just do the same or do you argue endlessly with them over there as well?

I don't expect you to understand nor do I really care.  He claims that the majority of HD riders are racist, sexist, bigots so yeah, that's probably going to get a response from me.  Why, because it isn't true.  Ya know what though it's an open forum and I am free to respond to the threads I am interested in.  I own Harley's so I pay special attention to the HD threads.  If someone posts something incorrect or blatantly ignorant I am sure I will respond.  That said, why do you respond to me?  If you don't like what I have to say, and you know I am going to say something, why not just move on?  As for HDforums, IF they posted something stupid about the Warrior you're damn right I would chime in and let them know how ignorant they are.  Thing is, there is so little metric chat over there I don't get the chance.  Hmmmm, wonder why?

"HD forums talk about how great their bikes are (even better then a Warrior) and let the guys here just do the same or do you argue endlessly with them over there as well?"

When have I ever entered a thread and downed the Warrior?  If the threads here were strictly about how great the Warrior then there wouldn't be an issue but that isn't the case.  I don't start negative threads and I don't down anyone else's ride, regardless of what it is.  Accuse me of something with some validity next time.

Re: Why do so many sentences...

I think that a MAJORITY of HD riders are racist, sexist and bigots. as well as a majority or riders in general. to say that they are not is totally false. one only needs to look at the clubs and bars, and i am not talking about the 1%ers. White only, Male only and HD only. As a patch holder myself i see it on a daily basis. Also go to the biker bars, how many blacks and hispanics do you see? good example would be Strokers, one of the largest biker bars in the US, predominitly harley, and you can see your share of swastikas, SS and white pride everywhere. With a weekend draw of 2-5 thousand, you only see 1 or 2 "other than white", and this is an upscale tourist attraction. Ever been to Sturgis? daytona? any rally? to say that racism isnt a key theme, you would have to be blind

also one only needs to go to some of the biker sites where you can see posts titled "proud to be white" and so forth and these are on 100,000 plus member biker sites. BK, and BON being 2 good examples......

and as for the HDs with their "advancements" ABS, rubber mounted motors, and FI have been in the metric bikes looooong before HD took notice....

Why do so many sentences begin w/ "Is that a Harley?"

I am on my way home from work this morning, stop for fuel and I hear a muffled voice(i wear ear plugs) from 50 feet away.  So i point to my head that I can't hear him.  Guy walks up to me and says, "Is that a Harley?"  I say no.  But then don't offer up what it is either.  If they don't ask, I'm not going to tell...

Woman walks by and tells me she likes the graphics.  I of course say 'Thank You', and split...

Ahhhh, ya gotta love being unique.

The next time someone asks you that question lean over looking @ the ground & ask them "Why, is it leaking oil."

If you try to go the speed of light, you end up getting burnt.

I didn't accuse you of downing a Warrior, starting negative threads or downing anyone else's ride.  Read what's written at least if you want to get your panties all knotted.  Everyone reacts their own way I suppose, I was just wondering why you waste your time on it.  As far as why I respond, that's a good question.  I believe this might be the first time I have but whatever, have fun with it.

     Well what's written is

"Wouldn't it be easier and just as enjoyable to let people on the HD forums talk about how great their bikes are (even better then a Warrior) and let the guys here just do the same or do you argue endlessly with them over there as well?"

That says to me that I don't let the Warrior guys talk about how great the Warrior is and that I argue that point endlessly. The Warrior is a great machine and I would never make a claim that it wasn't. Is that not what you intended to type because that sure is what showed up on my screen?  As for you responding to me it's not the 1st time and that's fine.  Apparently it gets easier as time goes onGeeked.  The reason I do it is simply because I enjoy a good point-counterpoint discussion on a particular subject especially when the other parties have some knowledge on the topic being discussed.  When it comes to Harley's here, it's more of the same BS about leaking oil and breaking down but no real substance.  I try to to avoid the truly ignorant stuff most of the time but whenever something catches my attention(like HD's being soooo antiquated unlike the proton fusion powered Warrior) I respond.  Other times I simply like the banter back and forth
