AZ Warrior,
No probelmo, glad I could help! For the DIY'ers, shortening a cluth cable requires a Dremel tool as the black wire casing is typically wire reinforced. The chrome looking cable end you see in the photo above is simply a $2.50 9mm deep socket from Autozone pushed onto the end of the shortened cable to make it look nice and give the actual cable a nice smooth surface to ride on. You can also order custom cables from Barnett. The "police-style" shifter I referenced looks like this:
...and these can be found at www.jpcycles.com . Finally, Rick from LaBriola Machine in Denver, CO makes a very cool suicide clutch kit; be sure to check out:

Rick also does custom fab work if needed. If cost is no object, go to http://www.grandeurcycle.com/site.htm and hit the link to the jockey shift section and you will find information on not only shifters but auto clutches (which allow the rider to slow to a stop, then take off again without engaging the clutch) as well. Rekluse is another manuafacturer of auto clutches; see http://www.rekluse.com/ .
Cheers,
TRacer
PS: I see you're from Gresham...I lived in Corvallis and went to OSU...
