Beats me why I'm the first to respond with a problem. Might be that my forward controls were already installed when I got the bike, so I may have the larger Yamaha spec'd button head bolt instead of what was supplied with the controls. I checked the dealership's hardware and it sized up the same as what I have.

    Oh, and McMaster-Carr, duh! Thanks.

No problema ..... and if you're worried about corrosion you can use the chrome allen head hole covers Wink

Ahhhhhhemmmm Alan, (hang tight for a second Chacho...battle of the twits is about to start)

The bolts I supply fit in that counterbore no problem...they are stainless and they are SOCKET HEADS....a button head obviously will not fit into where a socket head should be. I'd also offered anybody wanting the bolts...just in case, $5.00 for the 4 bolts.

Now, because I can't be certain of what bolts Phats now uses, or Barons, they may have changed over to a button head vs. the normal socket, or "Alan" head bolt. At one point when we produced them, they all came with socket heads.

Still....Alan...I did give you mention of what i had accounted for, that being a SOCKET head...I can't make every aftermarket company conform to a standard...and again...first complaint we've heard so far...Alan.Confused and no...you still can't question me!!! LOL.

Chacho, as far as your fiasco, sorry you've encountered that. I will be happy to give you the 4 bolts at $5.00 plus the shipping, which will probably be another $5.00 or so. Give me a call if you would like to do that. I have them readily available for you.Big Smile

Well bozack50, that's a new one on me as i've never seen a Stainless Steel M10-1.25p x 50mm lg soc hd cap screw on the US market except in England Surprise Hmm ... are you sure it's 1.25p and not 1.5p? The screw in question attaches to the lower frame of the bike!

I don't know what sizes the bolts are that bozack50 supplies but I can tell you they fit perfectly.... and are very shiny....Big Smile

They come in a pack of 4 when you buy the Forward Controls from him and another set of 4 Chrome Button Heads for the Forward Controls.

As he stated if you just buy the Spacer you will need to acquire the extra bolts from him, you just have to state that you need them.

If it was up to me I would just go ahead and add the bolts to the spacer package and just increase the price by $5.00. since it seems these bolts are hard to find in stainless.... then the person could just state they dont need them and reduce the price, that way if the person has problems finding bolts that fit, they could just blame themselves for removing them from the order....

Re: New spacers for your Supreme, Barons or Phat Warrior forward controls are coming next week!

    Alan,

They may be 60MM long and it's definitely 1.25. I did get some off length sizes in the 1.5 for the Victorys. That length is off the top of my head. Not at the shop yet, but pretty sure that's where we're at. And you're sure feisty todayGeeked

Remembering that they were previously bolting through a 1/2" plate, plus a 1" spacer, 50MM would not be long enough as you'd only leave about a 1/2" inside the frame, which would not be near enough. They're likely 60-65MM, and at this point, the counterbore is seated 1" from the frame, so though this new spacer would only require the 50MM (1" in the frame), the bolt going in is actually a bit longer because we're not bolting through the 1/2" plate anymore.

As far as finding it in the US market...dunno. Don't think I've had to buy that 50MM size, but being that I buy in bulk and haven't had any problem getting any other metric length so far, I will verify that with my bolt supplier. Big Smile

And as always Alan, you're welcome to come to my shop and pick on me anytime. One of these times I'm actually going to call on you for some real engineering!!Wink

Hey! Simmer down now! Simmer down! Smile If there is any twit around here, its gonna be me! My bike's been through a couple hands, so I never know what I'm going to run in to. There's no doubt these spacers are nice quality and the hardware included is equally as nice. If anyone is going to have problems around here, it's gonna be me. Like siradude stated, I should have requested the hardware to start with. I'll be giving you a call Bill.

Re: New spacers for your Supreme, Barons or Phat Warrior forward controls are coming next week!

You haven't seen this crazy look Alan gets in his eye....I almost whimpered once when I saw it!!Indifferent

And Alan...you'll be glad to know they are 45MM long so you're getting 3/4" into the frame past the spacer. (But I do have my bolt company sourcing the 50MM's right nowWink)

This does concern me to a point, as the previous bolts were not putting enough thread into the frame, however I double checked the short spacer and it was 3/4"...so, you effectively had 1 1/4" to go through with a 1 3/4" bolt. 1/2" into the frame...enough to be "okay" but not enough to be "more than enough" in my perception.

So, the 45MM are now going only through the 1" below the counterbore, thus giving 3/4" of thread into the frame...which should be just right!!

    ***ADDED after Marco's post....

Previous forward control spacers were 3/4" thick, plus a 1/2" plate...totalling 1 1/4". The bolts which were shipped with these were 45MM long, or approximately 1 3/4". This allowed 1/2" into the frame, which is very common across the board for forward controls.

The NEW spacer which some of you have acquired from me has only 1" spacing between the frame and the bottom of the head of the bolt...this means you are now getting 3/4" into the frame.

Hope that clarifies things for those of you who don't have the new spacers and were wondering what the heck I was rattling on about!

I'm no math wizard but doesn't that make it 1/4" too short of what you said is now "required" even without the plate and 5mm from "not be(ing) anywhere near safe"?  Not to bust your balls but I didn't personally put mine on and don't want to be wondering how close I am to another problem.  When you get the 50s in how about you shoot me some "just in case".

Re: New spacers for your Supreme, Barons or Phat Warrior forward controls are coming next week!

    Marco,

You have the correct ones with your stuff. In fact, I verified, and what I said as far as "not being safe" is in fact standard on the V-twins...1" bolts going through 1/2" plates...then 1/2" into the frame. I'm not an engineer by trade, so I typed before I checked. If you notice, I edited what I'd said in that previous post (just prior to you posting this) to remove the "nowhere near safe" opinion. I also had miscalculated the last frame spacer, but have since verified that to be 3/4" and not 1"

That being said, the ones you have...45MM are 3/4" into the frame with your spacers...so no ball busting necessary...you're good to go!

To clarify...45MM works out to 1.772 inches...just over 1 3/4". Your frame spacer has 1" of meat beneath the counterbore...therefore you've got .772" into the frame, or just over 3/4".

We were going back and forth between different size bolts, and different thickness spacers...just forget the previous post, read this post and you're clear..LOL.

I try to keep everything on the top of my head (you should see how big my hat is), but sometimes at night I don't have the means to verify before I type...and so you get what you got above...LOL. Better stick to the forums during the day when I can verify everything! (You can read the edited post from me just above Marco's.)

    Ed,

If you've got the chrome controls already, you should have them. I think Chacho's problem is that somebody used the stock Yamaha bolts on his control. So long as you do not have the black carbon steel bolts, you should have no problems fitting your bolts into the counterbore...likewise, your stuff was shipped out 3 hours ago.

If you have a way of checking the diameter of the head, and they're below .655 diameter, you're probably going to be fine.

No, they did not come with my orginal Supreme Legends. They did not come with what you are describing and from what I am understanding the stock bolts will not work, correct?
