Cool [H] Bought me a new Rice- burner

    Of the truck variety

2008 toyota tundra TRD. double cab.

After my fiasco last week coming home from our vacation with my old truck, I spent 4 days on the warrior shopping all over the northeast for a used truck. You would think with the way the truck sales are down that you could find a great deal on one right [WRONG]   I must have looked at about 40 or so used trucks and all of them were either way overpriced or had 80,000 plus miles or both. None of the dealers seemed to want to make any deals what so ever. I just could'nt see spending 20,000 on a truck with high miles that I would end up putting parts into after the first year.

Just for sh!TTS and giggles I stopped in to the toyota dealer to check out the 08 tundra. All I can say is WOW!!

With 5,000 cash back, 2,000 in rebates, 5.7 LT V-8  4WD, towing capacity of over 10,000 lbs, 6 speed overdrive transmission and warrantys up the yang, I couldnt pass it up.

My trailers are all hooked up and it's back to work. Cool

Great looking truck, BUT as a work truck it is not proven and it keeps failing. You should have stuck with an American Truck. My buddy did the same as you and 1 year into his ownership he wishes he had gotten a Ford HD or a Chevy HD. I prefer Dodge, but man after seeing Jeff's Ford HD that will be my Top Choice next truck purchase.

Ed, you took the hard road to geting a new truck but looks like you made a good choice. Hard to say much bad about the Toyotas. No they are not us made but they are very well made. Glad to se you finally got something to use to go back to work. Vacations over now put the bike away and grab a mower and go make some money to pay for thatBig Smile

Trust me ed, I tried every chevy and ford dealership within 50 miles of me to find a used 3\4 or 1 ton pick up. Not a single one wanted to deal . To buy new ,they were in the mid 40,s. For what I do in the spring summer and fall, this is plenty of truck. I decided that my winter plow route was just to big and to hard on the truck so I sold the heavy plow portion of my route . I still have plenty of accounts that are all done with a commercial blower.

Plus with all this extra time in the winter, I can resume my post whore duties Wink

That's a great looking Truck. What kind of fuel mileage can you expect out of it?

    "I reckon so"

Sorry to tell you guys but they are U.S. made, in Texas. If I could afford one right now I would buy one. I love chevys, and also a UAW union worker, but Toyota came out with an awesome truck.

It has a sensor in the dash that records you fuel use and gives you a readout. Yesterday while running around it recorded 13.8 mpg. They say highway will be 17 plus mpg. I'll see here in a little while how it does when towing my equipment . Either way it will be alot better than my 1 ton crew cab dually that was 7 mpg while towing

Nobody said that they were not made in the US. I said an American Truck. Yea, you are right Ed about the cost factor. American trucks are very expensive comparatively speaking next to your rice burner. I came close to pulling the trigger on the Nissan.

Gone. Too much editing. Baby about it, yes. I would like to have real discussions. If I want to have things not reported/discussed\deleted I would watch main stream media. This was one of my alternatives. Later all.
