    Re: SoCal North

kich:  how about tonight?  I may be able to swing by if i get my tires done in time.

btw guys:  Just wanted to share I'm getting new AV56's for my rear.  I just hit the Tread Wear Indicators on them and i've clocked over 10k miles!  I'm very impressed.  Not ony b/c i'm a pretty heavy guy, but b/c about 5k of it was 2-up with my wife Julie.

Interesting wear pattern though, it's a bit concave, can't tell from the pic, but do you guys know what i mean?.  I think this last ride on I-5 from SF killed it since the road was dark black and the sun was blaring on it with 105 degree weather.  How much more can i go once you hit the TWI?  Do you get to the steel belts?  I'm a bit worried b/c it's not the same around the whole tire.  See the pic below.

Also, we should see if we can find some organization that needs to raise funds and bring our bikes over for a post summer wash.  They can make a good $100 i'm sure in 4 hours on us.  I've got so many bugs on mine it's nasty.

I was going to get the Marathon 88 to match the front, but they are on backorder for a week, so i'll have to wait another 10k miles.

I've gone quite a while with them looking like that... at any rate, it's time for some burnouts Big Smile

I agree about the Avons, I've got about 4k on my rear and it still looks new (even with all my wheelies). I'm a little frustrated right now though, it recently started losing air. Can't find a leak, but if it sits for about 2 days it's too low to ride. Frustrating to have to fill it all the time. I guess it's burnout time for me too...

Maybe b/c of all the temperature changes.  But remember Avon's have a road hazard thing so don't trash them, you can get new ones.

BTW:  I got mine for $170 + tax and $35 for install.  Tire lists for $250.95.  Happy i got that and oil + filter all for $235.  Less than MSRP on the tire.  Big Smile

For the amount of riding you do, I would go back to the 200 Dave. Or, get the 240 (hehehe) I have over 8K on mine and they are still pretty good. It wears surprisingly even.

Avon's are good tires. But stick with the 200. Not the 210...

I just replaced both tires on the C14. I now have over 16.5K on it. I had the warranty from Cycle gear and they gave me 40% off the rear because I had to plug it. This is my third set on the Battlax 021 and I am very happy with the life. I might go with the Michelinn's next time. With my mileage, that will be about 6 months.....

Ok, I'm definately hitting Angeles Crest tomorrow. Time is flexible, but shooting for 10 or so. Anybody want to go?

Yes i stuck with the 200/50 17's.  I thought the Stock Battlax's weren't good.  The stock ones only lasted 3600 miles on this one.

So when i went to take my bike it, the tires were flat...  ha ha... i guess it was good timing.  I just filled them up again and rode it to the shop.

Hey do you guys know of oil coming out from a spot under the tank?  i'll take a picture later when there is light.  But my mechanic caught it.  He thinks it may be when the pressure is really high, the oil comes out of the air intake area, especially if it's over filled.

Perhaps this is what is going on... http://rswarrior.com/forums/p/19625/279517.aspx#279517?

It's probably your crankcase breather. Do you have a BAK? If so, is the oil showing up near where you routed the breather? I get to clean the oil off my rear cylinder every time I take the tank off.
