    Why do so many sentences...

Why do so many sentences begin w/ "Is that a Harley?"

I am on my way home from work this morning, stop for fuel and I hear a muffled voice(i wear ear plugs) from 50 feet away.  So i point to my head that I can't hear him.  Guy walks up to me and says, "Is that a Harley?"  I say no.  But then don't offer up what it is either.  If they don't ask, I'm not going to tell...

Woman walks by and tells me she likes the graphics.  I of course say 'Thank You', and split...

Ahhhh, ya gotta love being unique.

I always tell that its a custom Yamaha because no two warriors are the same once they leave the showroom.  I get asked that question a lot also and I wear a Yamaha air mesh jacket with Yamaha written all over it.  HD has done a great job of brain washing the general public.

I know the voices aren't real, but they do have some good ideas.

Just the other day i was pulling out of a bar and and old couple with a mid-30s dude were admiring my bike.  The older couple said nice bike but the idiot they were with says, "It's not a harley."  At that time I was in a hurry to pull out of the parking lot but as soon as i left i asked myself what he meant by that.  I got so pissed that i rode for 2 miles when i decided to u-turn and go back to the same bar to look for the guy and give him a piece of my mind.  Lucky him, he was gone.

I went to one of our local Hardly dealerships on Saturday morning to test ride some of their Buells ( Demo rides all day).  I counted atleast 6 or 7 people just standing staring at my bike.  Talked to acouple of folks and of course I got the "Its nice, but if you wanted a Harley why didnt you buy one?" and I actually had some old man on a heavily customized Road King tell me that he didnt understand how they could put such a big motor in such a light bike and it still be that slow.  I promptly asked him if we were talking about his bike, and all of a sudden he didnt wanna talk anymore! A$$hole!  Takes all kinds!!

I've gotten sentences and statements. On Friday some gou with hisfriends said "those are Harleys aren't they". I said "no, their Yamahas" It's not my fault people don't know their bikes. Any clown that knows anything should be able to tell a Harley from everything else. Like them, hate them or somewhere in the middle, they look like yesterdays technology from the tires up. With the exceptions of the Rods

I do the opposite, my Warrior only says Yamaha on the gas cap, and I don't wear anything with advertising for Yamaha or anyone else for that matter. I've gotten "nice Harley", but I get more "what is it?". I usually tell them, "Star Warrior", and watch the blank look on their face.Cool

My bike has no Yamaha ID anywher cept for the tuning forks in the speedo. Most have no idea what it is... I like that. Was in a bar a while back and some guy parked next to it on his HD. He came in and asked whos Big Dog was outside. It took me a minute to figure out he was talking about my WARRIOR. So I schooled him.

The best response I've had, was from a 12 year old boy, who said, Nice bike, that's no HD, they are so over rated.  Isn't that the power cruiser from Yamaha?

Thats because  Harleys are yesterdays technology. The Rod is thier newest endeavor and thats

just incorporating 10 year old technology.

Yeah, how dare anyone confuse the air cooled pushrod Vtwin belt driven Yamaha with the air cooled pushrod Vtwin belt driven Harley.[:'(].

Yeah, I constantly get "Is that a Harley?" I say NO then they will say something like "Well it sounds like one."......Is that a complement or a cutdown? I don't know.

Re: Why do so many sentences...

My bike is almost completely debadged too except for the camshaft/crankshaft covers.  I was recently riding with a group of ~40 motorcycles, approx. half of which were Harleys.  Mine was the only Warrior in the group. I noticed a lot of looks but no one said anything to me.  About 2-hrs into the ride at one of the gas stops I was filling up and a guy on a very nice Road King pulls up next to me and asks what kind of bike I had. After I told him it was a metric, he YELLS over to a group of Harley riders on the other side of the lot, "NOPE, IT'S NOT A HARLEY!"

I'm guessing someone lost a bet in that group!
