A company solicited her by mail with a jewelry offer. It was a gold ring with a genuine Topaz setting. As an introductory offer the cost was only $5.95 shipping. I told her it was a scam and she argued with me that she new exactly what she was doing. Too good to be true, right? RIGHT!!!

Today she found out that $5.95 shipping was actually $44.97 which included handling charges etc. Secondly she discovered the company deals in costume jewelry. So basically she payed $44.97 for a piece that was worth about $5.00.

I'M SO MAD I CAN'T SEE STRAIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife is an idiot and she's going to believe a complete stranger over her own husband. We are definitely going to have a little talk this evening, and it ain't gonna be pretty . . . . so get my bail money ready!!!

Look at the bottom of your signature!! God always first! Don't go near firearms or sharp objects! Use this as an excuse for that motor upgrade, atleast YOU will get your money's worth. Just think, in ten years you'll look back and laugh.

I do understand that $45 is more than a simple Oops. But, its not worth murder. Slap her around a lil bit, maybe a busted lip or a black eye or something, might even be worth having her file a restraining order against you for battery, but not murder. (<---Joke)

Great advice, this is a great example of turning lemons into lemonade and making bonus points too. 

Let's keep things in perspective.  I doubt that $45 is going to push you into the poor house.  Don't gloat on this or rub her face in it, I'm sure she feels pretty dumb now about the whole thing and you'll only build animosity between you if you do.  Besides, I'm sure if she wanted to she could find an instance or two where you threw away $50 in an over-priced mod on your Warrior. 

Buy her a real topaz ring with a matching necklace for Christmas and you will make some extra points with her too.

I was mad when I originally posted this but the Lord taught me a quick lesson. I purchased a DVD player (1080dp) this morning at one of the sales for $24.00. It one with all of the bells and whistles (not a blu-ray). Anyway while I was hooking it up this evening I noticed an HDMI connection on the DVD player and one on the 42" LG Plasma. Upon reading the owners manual I found that I needed an HDMI cable which wasn't supplied with the unit. Oh well another $10-$12 bucks won't be too bad, right?  Try $36.98! The cable cost more than the DVD player.

Needless to say I've been humbled and have settled down quite a bit.  

When she gets home just keep singing the words to this Prodigy song over and over.

To show how the human mind works... the FIRST thing I thought of while reading your post... was how stressed you were when your wife had surgery a while back.... 

Then... I thought about ignorant about money my own wife is.... and how she will buy anything on sale.. because.. you guessed it.. she SAVED MONEY... 

Hope the jail cell is large enough for the both of us.. LOL...

BTW- For your HDMI cable.. if you have a Sams Club near you you can pick up a 10 footer for $20.  Costco has a double pack for $40.  This website has 'em even cheaper... This is actually where I order them from for work... in the event I need some 'extras'.
